It goes below the shiftknob so it'll lock the shiftknob. I'd get you a pic of mine, but I'm kinda lazy right now. I'll post it up tomorrow if you need help still.

EDIT: here you go..

actually it doesn't stay in place... I have one and put a small washer under the medal piece so when the boot goes on, the washer stops just on top of the thick part of the shifter, making the boot stay

Ok I just bought my new shift boot and shift knob but they gave me the nut also?? I saw the pic and know that it goes under it now but is there anyway not to put the nut there cuase it doesnt look as cool? Any help would be greatly appreciated . Thanks

EDit! - I just installed it from looking at the picture of the skunk2 shift knob and it looks great! The only problem I think I have is the nut that tightens the shift knob on doesnt go all the way down?? it stops a few threads before? So my shift boot kinda gets stuck on the thread left and makes a kinda clicking noise sometimes?? So it kinda has some of the bronze from the from the whole real shifter showing? does this make any sense? :'( Any help would be greatly appreciated again.

i just got my CTR shift boot and 6spd knob today... can u post up some pictures of how it looks?... does the nut that came with the knob go on top of the boot?... if it does... then isnt there a gap from the silver ring of the boot to the shift knob... because of the nut?... please help anyone....

What I did --

To make the knob fit securely without the nut, I jammed stuff inside the knob. Then when I screw the knob down far enough, it compresses the junk in there, and won't easily turn anymore.

I'm wondering if my CTR boot is different from others. It butts up against the knob without the aid of a washer, yet it can slide down if I push against it. I think it's a good thing, really, because my hands might get a bit sloppy if I'm driving hard, and I'd rather have the boot slip down the shaft instead of getting pulled out of its ring.
