if it is surface prep only, I use scotchbrite pads. the green dish washing sponge things. you don't want to cut grooves into the surface. the closer you can get to 1000 grit the better. all you want to do is get the shine off the surface to make the new paint stick. if there are chips, use more grit and then work toward 1000 grit. everybody has different methods, but this is the one that works for me.

is that wet sanding w/ 1000 grit paper or dry sanding?

its paint prep and my wheels are flawless... so just use scotch brite?

1000 grit dry for the first question. personally I would just use scotchbrite to knock off the shine, and then paint since the wheels are flawless. just make sure to remove all the dust after sanding.

What kind of paint is good to use. HI-Temp or is there a specific paint made just for rims?

If you can use automotive paint, by all means use that. if not, duplicolor has automotive paint in a can. it will not be as good as the real deal, but is probably better than regular spray paint. if you have to use regular spray paint, use krylon. it is the best regular rattlecan paint I have found - no runs, no drips, no errors.:D

also, be sure to clear coat with clear coat from the same company as the paint to be sure there are no compatibility issues between the paint and clear.
