Is that the newer one with the 2.2L engine, or is that not out yet?

Not getting into a long, drawn out post I'll keep it simple. As much as I loved my EP, she just wasn't cutting it performance wise for me. Not that she wasn't fun, I just wanted something more focused on performance from the start. I got $14K for her from Kay Honda in Eatontown, NJ and a sticker of just under $30K for the S2K. The payments are obviously higher but I seem to forget that at 80mph without a top :D
It handles AMAZINGLY. No roll, point and shoot steering, incredibly solid. I'm still under 600 miles so no 9K redline runs yet but it feels very potent even under 4 grand. Seats are amazing and the shifter beyond words. Nice seating position - everything falls to hand. The lows? Stereo could use a little more oomph and it is pretty tight in there without much cubby space. Other than those nit picks, I'd be stretching. Bottom line, its the most fun I've EVER had in an automobile

Its a 2003. The larger engine, new headlights, and 17" wheels are on the 04'. There wouldn't have been any discounts on one of those, even if they were out when I got the 03'. I debated the black (they also had red and silver) but once I saw it in person I had no more decision to make :)

nice purchase. i would have waited until the S2200 comes out, then maybe you could have gotten a really good deal on the S2K. but you'll probably forget about that too at 80 mph w/ the top down.

:D

Nice...congrats! My sister is thinking of getting the new S2000 2.2 (she use to have a S2000). I guess you got a deal on it since it was end of the year and before the revamped S2000 comes out.

I'm 6'3" 220lbs and barely fit, but if the market waited 2 more months to crash I would have bought one. Everything you said about performance and feel is 100% on. I did get in the 8,000 range on the test drive...maybe you guys will be more used to that, but for me it was like "when do I shift..now? Now?! NOW!!" and the needle just kept climbing. Very, very fun!

Congrats on an excellent car!

Yes it does - I'll probably borrow my family's 03' CR-V on those days. Otherwise, I'm not gonna worry about it that much.

As for the parts, what I could take off in time I did and sold, but there were some that I had to leave on. It really doesn't bother me that much - I got good use out of them.

Congrats! I'm curious about the cost of insurance as well, because I know living in Jersey the insurance is rediculous.

Enjoy the incredible ride.

That car is GORGEOUS!:*

I love it! Definately the route I'm gonna take for my next car... Although I'll wait for the S2200 with more torque, and I'm gonna keep the EP for a "Beater/Winter" car.

Just the very thought of driving an S2000 in the snow frightens me!

As far as upgrades go... Not much can be done for the S2000 motor, short of a turbo or supercharger, which would sort of ruin the whole personality of the car as far as I'm concerned... Better to just throw a few buck at a new stereo!

Congrats on the new ride!

VERY nice! Congrats! You are going to LOVE that car. If Honda would have made a coupe version, I would have bought one a long time ago.

Now get your ass out to a track and take a HUGE hit off the go-fast crack pipe. You'll never be the same afterwards and all driving on normal roads will pale in comparision.

My Dad has been an S2000 owner for a couple of years so I have driven it many times. Awesome car. When Car & Driver did a recent comparo with the S2000 one of their "dislikes" was: "resisting the temptation to rip off nine grand shifts in sets of five." When you get past the break in period you will definitely agree!
You are right about the stereo - very weak.
HKS exhaust: Great upgrade, really howls.

I haven't driven a "2200" but I think that Honda gave in to the critics that bitched about lack of low end torque. As you already know, the 2000 has plenty of low end torque for daily driving. What are the critics comparing it to? I think the 2000 is more of a pure performance car with the 9,000rpm redline and peak power at higher rpm.
Congrats & enjoy!

Karim

Welcome the family man!

If you haven't already please come by to http://www.s2ki.com it's undoubtly the best board I've ever been to on the net! Also consider becoming a member there to help keep the site alive and the benefits from the sponsers alive. I learned so much about the car there that I didn't know.

If I may impose for your first 2 mods there are 2 things the car should've came with.

First Rick's Voodoo shiftknob, It's countersunk and the way it feel is great. I have the Ti one http://www.ricks2k.com/products/shiftknob.php

besides that Modifry's glove box organizer really helps sort out that cubby space. BEST 12 BUX I'VE EVER SPENT! http://www.baustnet.com/honda/mods/glovebox/index.htm

Congrats!

(takes a deep breath)

Greenguy: I definitely will - looks like the second week of Jan.

Civicvtec1ps / Alex: I don't want to really say but its "enough". :D Insurance went up about $500 a year (from $1600 I was paying on the Si)

Wrath: I've been here as a member since Day One. I plan to stick around ;)

Droideka: My plans exactly.

DyNastySi: Very funny :p

Iced Out: You had that feeling too!! :D

02Hatchgrl: Other than a Honda disc changer, Its perfect 100% stock

S2KGirl / Karim: Already signed up on s2ki.com. Very impressive site! A lot of great info there :)

BlackNRedSi: PM me about ATCO - very interested.
