View Full Version : Who has kept their stock wheels after getting new ones?

Just curious as to who all is hanging on to their stock wheels and who has sold them. Also, I know there are several reasons for keeping them or selling them, but I'd just like to see some individual reasons.

I'm thinking I don't need to keep mine, but once I sell them I'll probably wish I had kept them. Grass is always greener on the other side.

Having some computer problems here. That's the reason for the multiple reposts. If a mod could delete them, and leave just one I'd appreciate it. Sorry for the mishap.

I sold mine cause I live in Georgia so I don't care about the winter.

I kept mine for 3 reasons. 1. Winter use 2. Resale
(if I ever do?) better to sell or trade it in as stock. 3. It never hurts to have an extra set of wheels, just in case.

I have mine b/c I dont have tires on my 17s that I've had for a few months now. Having no job sucks. Although I might have one soon! = )

I might keep mine for the following reasons (thanks to friends):

1. I'm in college and they won't get jacked. Who wants OEMs?
2. Racing, Tray Sliding, Drifting - need I say more.
3. Daily driving in GA tears at ones rims & tires b/c of the constant construction going on everywhere.
4. People are less likely to approach my car with intent to break in since my car has that 99% stock feel (rims are a dead giveaway that a car has some mods).

We'll see how logical I am when I get tires. I'm sure I'll do that whole "they're so pretty!" thing and never take them off again. ^_^

I am backward, I found a good deal on tires and got them while I decide on wheels. but I will keep them and add them to the stock wheel collection. 4 sets and counting.:D

come in handy for getting parts/project cars and when I feel like doing burnouts in front of my asshole neighbors house, it gives me something to use.

well, once the yokos wear out, r-compound will be going on the oz wheels, and the stock wheels will get some cheap rubber to endure the daily commute. And i'll throw on the r-compound for when it's time to have some fun. :D

i just bought my 17s last night... gonna put my stock wheels on ebay. the way i see it... i didn't screw up my stock wheels this past winter, so i don't see a problem with other wheels. and if i want to go back to stock, its pretty easy to find a set of used oem wheels on ebay again.

I kept the stock for trade-in reasons. I live in Florida so I don't worry about winter. Also good for any emergencys...:D

I kept them and put them on my ED. It lifted the car at least 1".

Now I got a lifted 4x2 hatchback to tool around the dirt roads that I frequent. Strangely enough it now actually feels faster (straight line) than it did with the stock 14" steelies even though it is a lot taller.

And when it comes to trading in the EP, I can just swap the OEM wheels back on.

I am keeping my stock wheels for winter. I'd sell them but for some wacky reason, people in Toronto won't pay more then $450 Canadian for the rim/tire!

:(

But then its probably for the better anyway. I am going to try to sell the cursed MVX4s once I mount the snow tires!

For some reason, I don't see a delete button.

Well I haven't been on here in quite some time. Now in Indy. Anywho,
I HAD to put on the stockies last night after blowing a front right
tire going over a short median and ripping a hole out of the sidewall.
Long story short the stockies are on for the winter time now and
am glad to have kept them.

seriously.. get 8 large bolts with nuts and then stack two of them on top of each other...have 4 bolt go through the lug holes and bolt underneath the bottom wheel.. then somehow mount a sheet of plexiglass on top... since glass would break easy because Im a cluts(spelling).
