this might be a silly question but i was wondering if anyone who has this motor in their hb could tell me what kind of mileage they get. and also what's the minimum required octaine gas to be used with this motor?

Well, I would only use premium since the compression is so high plus that is what the RSX's use. My friend gets 24 MPG in his Type-S, hopefully this helps.

But for the K20a, I would think you need 93 octane. That sucks, AZ doesn't carry that.

Until I recently started traveling the country, I thought 93 was the norm........I never knew how good I had it in south Texas

Everywhere else is lower octane and higher prices

Back to the original question though, you should get right at the same mileage as an RSX would, maybe .5 better due to weight, but not much of a difference

yea texas gas prices are the best. I have friends up north telling me they pay 160+ a gallon for gas. i think 87octaine right now is like 1.30 down here right now.

I just filled up my new teg with mid-grade(89) for $1.39, regular was 1.34 (87)

A couple of weeks ago I was paying over $2 along I-10 to California and there in CA for 'premium' (91), I think 2.39 was the most I payed. I noticed there regular some times was 86 octane

SO what octane would you use in a Type-R motor?

i would think the A2 in an EP would get lower mileage unless you also transplant the six-speed tranny with it. the EP's transmission is geared pretty closely and lacks the sixth gear of the DC5-S. otherwise, i'm sure you'd see similar numbers w/ the six-speed.

I actually had a 5-spd Si box in my car for a while........I did not notice any difference in my mileage, but I did not drive quite as aggressively I dont think because it would drop out of i-vtec, even with Hondata

Moral of the story; get a 6-speed if you do the swap

Well if you get the Type-R Hondata reflash you can run 91 Octane because Hondata made so you can use it in Cali (91 only).
