what are the differences between the tsx engine and crv engine? obviously pistons due to compression difference....but is the tsx head like the k20a2 head...and the crv head like the k20a3?

also how come the tsx engine makes 200 horses and 166 ft lbs of torque while the crv engine which onli produces 160 horses can produce 162 ft lbs of torque...on 4 ft lbs less? how does honda make this possible? thanx

anyone?

tsx and crv both have the same bore (87mm) and stroke (99mm).

tsx has 10.5:1 compression with a 7100rpm redline
crv has 9.6:1 compression with a 6000rpm redline

the tsx has similar benefits as the rsx-s where as the crv has similar features as the rsx base.

anybody else want to chime in...?

That sounds right. A difference in the K24 and the K20 is the K24's block is 19mm taller than it's little brothers. I think the hot ticket is go crv or element k24 block and a2 head. But, sence the k24 has such a long stroke(99mm). You have to watch your revs. If you take it to 7900 rpm(a2 stock redline) your piston speed will be over 5100 ft. per min. That is crazy high. Without a beefed up bottom end, the engine might destroy it's self. That's just some food for thought!

why is the redline on the crv so much lower than redline on the tsx engine? if the have same stroke and everything? shouldn't it be the same?

for one the tsx block is beefed a little more so im told - but it mainly revs higher because the head can flow more

so if i was to swap a k20a2 head onto a k24 crv block, i shouldn't have a problem revving to 7 g's rite?

are you using crv pistons or tsx pistons?

the lower compression also makes a difference when reving !!

crv block and pistons with rsx-s head

ya we need the guy that did that conversion already to chime in - he was getting nice numbers even untuned. !

Just look at the new Honda Tuning. It has Hasport's si, k24 a2 head and JR supercharger. On a stock block and being tuned by hondata it made 292.6 hp and 228.4 torque.:D

why frankensten and not wait and see if you can get a complete TSX engine?

because the crv is even torquier....

mostly due to the extra cost of the RBB package, the Frankenstein (if you get a good find on the head) will be much cheaper than the RBB, plus the drive by wire is a pain to hack

I don't know if you guys already saw this...but the new edition of Honda Tuner....did a K24 swap in a 2002 Si.

It looks bad ass.....had like 294hp.

The TSX K24 has the equivalent of the RSX Type S head.
All the other K24s have the equivalent of the Civic Si head.
All the K24's have a 1mm larger bore than the K20. This gives the valves better flow.
All the K24 blocks have the same beefed up construction found on the Type S block.
The pistons and rods are different on the TSX K24. The TSX K24 also has more compression.

The K24 in the Hasport car featured in the November Honda Tuning has a CRV bottom end and K20A2 head with Type R cams.
