Just got off the phone with Metra, their one of the companies that makes dask kits.

The kit specifically for our 2002 Honda Civic Si Hatchback (in matching silver) is now available and in stock in two of there warehouses!!!

I did confirm that instock means many hundreds of kits not yet sold to people and available to be shipped immediately!!!

I do not know pricing yet, as the rep for PA at Metra was unavailable to take my call.

For those who need it - Metra's Contact Info:

Metra Part Number: 99-7860 (Silver for '02 Civic Si HB)

The Wait IS Over!!

Enjoy! :D :D :D :D :D :D

Thanks for the info, but we need to see pics of them. So I take it that the silver is for pieces that are not already silver on our cars???

don't get black guys. it would contrast too much with the silver dash.

Just out of curiosity, why is everyone scrambling to get a dash kit? you can mount just about any radio using the factory screw holes, and the front panel is well finished behind the factory radio. I'll take some pics of mine. based on my experience with the Metra kit for the regular Civics, I wouldn't get my hopes up for the Si kit being anything worth using. it's probably more of an ill-fitting trim ring than anything else. Anyone selling their stock radio?

I got a Metra dash kit several weeks ago and its black, and it doesn't fit. Maybe they redid it though.

Yeah I 2nd the statement, no dash kit is necessary. I did mine without any kit. Not necessary at all, just need a wiring harness.

Its in progress right now, but it does involve a bit O bondo to remove seams. Actually there is a great picture of someone else who beat me to the punch 1 or 2 threads down, though I think he did use a kit.

Steve02si,

so you didnt do any kind of modification???cutting nothing??? just straight drop in? Why do they make kits then? Just wondering since it looks good to me. Thanks.:D

Steve02Si
09-19-2002, 11:36 PM
Nope, no modifications necessary. Just bolt the new radio in using the stock radio's mounting holes. The kit is basically just a trim ring to fill in the extra area of the trapezoid shape. It's really not necessary since the area behind the stock radio is painted silver like the visible part. Plus, you can get creative and cut the face off your stock radio to use as a cover to hide your aftermarket one! I'll have a pic of that soon...

Here's the deal...

The Metra kit (Part# 99-7860) which is supplied by plaqces like Crutchfield and Best Buy is BLACK Plastic, and available all over right now...

... Great for those who go to carbon fiber....

For those of us who like the silver/titanium look and want a silver stereo (oohh, Pioneer MP8400...) metra WILL sell a color matched silver kit in the next few months...

That part number will be: 99-7860S

The black part number is 99-7860

Enjoy the wait kiddies...

any word yet on when the Scosche silver matching kit will be released? They have postponed it about 7 times already.

You could get some silver vinyl spray and spray it.

I've seen vinyl spray applied and it looks great, suprisingly.
