Amazing how sometimes you have to go to the dealer to just get the info from a brochure (before finding it on the net).

First of all, there is no Milano Red.
Now for the rest of the differences as stated in the brochure:
Stabi bars: '03 = 25.4/15, '04 = 25.4/17
Steering wheel turns (lock to lock): '03 = 2.84, '04 = 2.68!!
Turning Diameter (ft): '03 = 34.8, '04 = 37.4
Wheels: '03 = 15" Alloy, '04 = 16" Alloy
Tires: '03 = 195/60/15, '04 = 205/55/16
(Tire O.D. '03 = 24.2126", '04 = 24.8780" (.6654" increase, or the vehicle will sit .3327" higher, and will have .3327" less wheel gap))
Curb Weight: '03 (no Airbag) 2744, '04 (no Airbag) 2782 (38 lbs. up)

The only other minor changes listed are small changes in length, etc, which are all .1" diff. (ex: Length '03 = 165.8, '04 = 165.7)?? I'm not posting the rest, they are all 0.1" changes = negligible.

My opinion is that the '04's will be slower. If due to nothing else than the O.D. of the tire increasing. The brochure shows no indication that anything else changed to help the heavier, taller sidewalled EP keep up with the '03 EP.

I like it overall. I think the stabi bar up is a nice bonus for people who don't feel like changing a stabi bar themselves (probably not too many people on this board, but...) at least it starts at 17, so it should be tolerable. The reduced turns lock to lock is nice (5.6% reduction).

The rest of the brochure is filled with pics most of you have seen online.

Enjoy!!!

I have a theory about the lock-to-lock turns. Look at the turning diameter for '04...it's bigger by over 2 1/2 feet! I know the new EP's are suppose to have a new steering rack. Maybe that's how Honda can fit 225 width tires on the FP package and not rub. I'm assuming it won't rub since Honda doesn't do things half-assed like that.

Without any more power from the engin....the 5 lug is just adding more weight to any "slow" car....hehehehehe

The turning radis is different because of the rims...

Hey I thought the tail lights were supposed to be nasty and clear....look at the cover of the brochure.....I see the 03 tail lights.

Hmm, lock-to-lock improvement sounds nice. But then again, the lock-to-lock for the 02-03's are way better than any other Civic has ever had anyway.

I think the big wheels and tires are going to be the culprit for the extra 38lbs.

Surprise
10-17-2003, 08:41 AM
I thought that they also improved some road noise as well, so some of the 38 pounds minus wheels might be sound insulating material.

dchu
10-17-2003, 11:31 AM
I guess I didn't explain myselft too well. What I was trying to say was the range of motion the wheels have to turn was decreased, hence the larger turning diameter. The tires might have something to do with it but I don't think going up 10mm of tread width is going to add 2 1/2 ft to the turning radius.

!@#$%

no gearing changes?

BlasTech
10-17-2003, 02:00 PM
Heh, maybe they made the lock-to-lock shorter because the decreased the turning angle to allow for the bigger tires.

A decrease in steering wheel turns lock-to-lock and a larger turning radius sounds like a reduced steering range to me. Can you say "Land Yacht"? I thought you could. :D

Did you compare the size of the brake discs? Considering the 5 lug spendles, I thought it might receive larger brakes.

Did you say you obtained the brochure from a dealer? My local dealer does not have them yet.

I for one am having doubts that I'll be buying another honda anytime soon. I went to the honda dealership today & saw the new 2004 accessories book & there is nothing new for 2004. no wing, no ground effects, nothing. Just piss poor side skirts that come standard with the car. So for all those months where we were supposed to get more options and possibly an "r"... yeah "r"ight.

i never believed for a moment that they would bring the Type R here. Honda pretty much never competes with their own products here in America.

What? The HFP kit includes the wing and ground effects, as well as other pieces. Other than the R, what isn't Honda offering?

Yes, I receieved the brochure from the dealership. I'd been calling them every week waiting for them to come in.

One more point. You guys are correct: The decrease in lock to lock turns is nothing more than Honda limiting the travel of the steering wheel due to the Larger wheels on the HFP package (225). Now it's impossible to make them rub on the inner fenders or anywhere else. And yes, you are also correct that because you can't turn the steering wheel as far left or right as before, the turning radius increases, which matches what the brochure states.

Brakes: The same 10.3" in front and 10.2" in the back. Sorry guys, I was looking for RSX-S common front brakes too!!

Don't put words in my mouth. He said that those body kit pieces weren't available. They are. That is all I said. And as far as the newb remark, who gives a shit how many posts I have on this site? Come over to the Prelude forums so I can call you a newb. It means nothing.

The new tails don't look that bad on a silver car, but I wished they went all led like the G35 Infiniti and '04 E46 Bimmers.

I hope Honda makes the ground effects kit avail to us '02-'03 owners. I know most us don't like how un-clean the kit looks, but seriously it looks 10X better than not having it, and leaving the bare pinch weld exposed like an 80's colt or Laser, ya-know-what-I-mean. But seriously if the kit comes paint coded to the your car, you cant beat it. Even though it looks rough, it looks waaaayyy better than any of those urethane aftermarket kits everyones sporting, and the plus about this kit is it's oem.

Also I think I see more and more EM coupes now sporting the Fp kit, and I cant help but be jealous of their kitted Em's eventhough our car is faster, sometimes it's not always about that.

i believe that you cant buy pieces from the hfp kit, you have to buy it as a whole. so the chances of you getting just the body kit by itself are rather slim.

I could see Honda making a lot of money just selling OEM painted wings. Hopefully they will piece out the kit. I doubt it, but I hope so.

nope, what i mean is the "STANDARD" (meaning costing under $4000) options, nothing is new. Too bad if you want a wing or just skirts. But have-at-it if you have 4g's to do nothing but chunk up your car & make it slower than our 02's & 03's

Hmmm. Why would you look in the accessories book for standard equipment? "Standard" by definition does not include accessories. Re-read what you wrote before you get too offensive. I wouldn't pay that much for the HFP kit either, but it is indeed available as an accessory.

i see your point, but i still stand by what i said. Not all dealerships even offer the factory perfomance option, so therefor in my eyes this is far from what i mean by "standard" ie (regularly and widely used, available, or supplied.)

surely the hfp includes 'performance' upgrades..no?

Suomi

The only performance oriented upgrade is springs. No actual running gear upgrades. (at least none announced yet, but no other HFP kits included any)

Hi guys, I picked up a 2004 brochure at Miller Honda in Culver City, CA. Here are some notes:

1. The HFP Package is listed on the back of the brochure as an optional "Dealer-Installed Accessory Package". There are two packages:
a. "HFP PACKAGE. Enhance your Civic Si's style and performance with a hatch spoiler, a front, rear and side underbody kit, a sport suspension, 17" alloy wheels and tires, and slick interior trim."
b. "Convenience Package. Dress up your Si with carbon fiber-look trim and a moonroof visor. Fog lights enhance your outward view."
The Miller Honda employee I spoke too said the package would be about $4500, and was still checking in with his parts department to see if the parts could be ordered separately.

2. The standard Civic Si will come with shallow side skirts. They are not the same as in the pictures of the HFP version.

3. The brochure has a two-page spread dedicated to some great custom Si's - the Mugen Si, the Honda SEMA prototype, a couple civicTour SI's, and the CTR.

4. The interior appears unchanged.

5. Yes, it's 5-lug.

Enjoy!

yeah, also according to the brochure, the 04' rear stabilizer bar is 2mm larger, the car is 38lbs heavier, car length is 0.1inch shorter, track is 0.1 inches narrower front and back..., 5 lug, turning radius, lock to lokck, kits/wing, springs, lights, blah blah blah...

im wondering if the hatch still leaks? AND! where the hell i can get the coupe's fp 16in rims...?

Id like the tails if there was no orange on top. Hmm DIY clear blinker?

Picture them with only white on top and red on bottom. Like the old school 95 JDM Civic style.
