Blaze12,

Where did you purchase your Si? It there someone at the dealership you'd recommend?

I paid $300 over invoice + Destination for my SI with side air bags. I think the total worked out to $18,350. I possibly could have done better, but I thought that the 300 over invoice figure still left in some commision for the salesperson who was great. I was so suprised when my saleslady came over and point blank asked me how much I wanted to pay, the first thing I said was 300 over invoice, they accepted immediately. She had helped me out on several occasions, and I've worked commisioned sales before and really hated it when people talked the price down so low that I didnt get much for helping them.

Crown Honda in Chapel Hill, NC has been great to work with so far. Ask for Donna G. if you go. They had 4 more on the lot when I bought mine 2 weeks ago, but I haven't checked lately.

Blaze, was the $17,500 your total out the door? If so, that is a darn good deal!

I'm leasing mine since I usually change cars every 2-3 years. And if the Type-R comes to Canada, I have a feeling I will have to have one........man the wife will kill me if I do that. May have to get a divorce.:D

I bought mine at Hendrick Honda, in woodbridge VA. The reason i got such a good deal, was one, i had just come from another dealership that tried to talk me outta buying the Si. Kinda pissed me off, said i couldnt afford it!!!! So i told mt new sales person at Hendrick what he did, and she was like what a dumb ass, and after she ran my credit, she was like what a real dumbass... plus she was new, this was her first sale. I think she was afraid i would leave if i didnt get it for what i wanted, since i already had left one dealership that day.

If it helps, you didn't get ripped: I'm guessing that you bought your car when it first hit the bricks. Who knew then that the hot box market would go soft? My hunch is that BMW's MINI is really impacting Honda's anticipated sales of the Si.

Also, you're in California. I lived there for years. Anything trick on wheels is always more expensive. Conversely, on the East Coast, hot boxes just aren't that popular.

19,440 2 days after it arrived, bought it off the showroom floor. It was listed as 22,440, it was the first one they sold.

$19,440 plus tax/title/license/finance charges. They were originally selling it for 2 grand over sticker but would not drop below sticker AT ALL. They had two on the lot when I went in the middle of April - only 3 weeks after they officially came out I think. They said it was so hot that they were not allowed to give any dicounts. Its a good thing I fell in love with it or I'd probably be in a GTi right now!

I payed $25,500 Canadian for mine. Which is about $16,862 American. Plus I also payed $750 freight canadian($495 US).
For some reason...cars are always cheaper to buy in Canada. Woohoo!

Sticker was 19,000. Dealership woudn't come down on the sticker AT ALL. (good job EL-DOG. I guess I bought mine like the 2 week they had came out) Destination charge was $440. After the destination charge, TT&L, and an extended warranty good for 75k miles. The totall financed price was $22,140. 4.5% financing. No money down. $417 a month. One expensive Honda! :D

In forty minutes, I'll hand over a check for $18,439, tax-paid, out the door. That includes 89 bucks for those silly floor mats.

Hey well thanks for the retrospect. Actually makes me feel a bit better. Yeah the dealer had that car for like a week before I test drove it and bought it. It has like 7 miles on it after the test drive, and now it has close to 1500. I expect it to last 200K or more! I am not hard on it all the time. Just gettingon the freeway and the occasional drag! Thanks Mechanic!

SiCivic2k2
07-03-2002, 01:08 PM
Yeah, actually. What's with the AWD name if you have an Si? And why in the world would you buy a car and 1500 miles later sell it? Did you not think before you bought the car? You must have alot of money to throw around.

awd4g63
07-03-2002, 01:14 PM
awd4g63.... that means a dsm, but you don't even know what that is... I bought the si to drive around every day. But since the store (SPEEDPEOPLE) down the street from me has one, everyone has to compare my car to their's. My folks made me get a new car... I didn't want one, and this was the only car that looked like it was worth anything

DJQuikFingaz
07-03-2002, 01:21 PM
Hmm. I still don't understand why the hell you would want to sell your car after just 1500 miles. And what is this shit about speed people having one. Are you mad just because people will compare your car to theirs? If you are, that just plain stupid.

awd4g63
07-03-2002, 01:25 PM
how would you like it if someone messed with your car one night just because you have the same car they do? The main reason why i am looking into getting rid of it is because the lancer evolution is comming to the states and i am going to use the money i get for the si to put a down payment on it

SpacemanSpiff
07-03-2002, 01:26 PM
Wow, I wish that my parents had "made" me get a new car when I was younger. I felt lucky when they bought a spare used car for me to drive. It was never mine, but it was the family car that was assigned to me: 1987 Oldsmobile Cutlass Calais with a 2.4L four cylinder engine, I drove it my senior year in HS and then through college. It was a serious piece of junk. That is why I own Hondas and VWs now.

If you like the car, drive it! Don't worry about what others think. If you don't like it, it is a little late to make that decision unless you are just made of money. You'll never get $20K out of it used unless you find a real sucker.

DJQuikFingaz
07-03-2002, 01:27 PM
Well thanks for clearing yourself up. But you still should have thought more before buying it.

Edit:
how would you like it if someone messed with your car one night just because you have the same car they do?

Well obviously I wouldn't like it, but if you know who did it...see what I'm saying. They would obviously be responsible.

07-03-2002, 01:30 PM

Looks like I paid the most for mine. $22,250 after TT&L, floor-mats, and a 6yr./75,000 mile extended warranty($900). When I bought mine they wouldn't budge on the sticker price of 19,450 at all! Oh well, I guess I won't be selling it anytime soon. :D

I went to Thomson Gladstone Honda this afternoon to get a Type-R engine cover and asked a sales guy, that liked my wheels, if the Si's were saleing good; and he said yes...for $2500 over MSRP! It appears they are able to get that much here in the Portland area, so I guess my MSRP price was pretty good.
