I have a Schroth 3 point belt on my stock seat. I only use it for auto-x and track days, regular belt for everyday.

Well, if you arent planning on getting in any accident, why do you wear your seatbelt at all? Its just in case... better safe than sorry! :D Only if the belts are correctly mounted though...

I have them in my car, both driver and passenger side. Dude, the seats were made for those belts. Where the harnesses bolt into the sides of the seats, they are cut-out to hold the Sparco harnesses and the bolt is long enough for the factory belt and the new ones to be bolted in. I love mine, i have yet to wear the factory ones since I got these...and behind the rear seats are the bolts to hook the belt to. I love them.
Here is a pic of the front of my car, you can barely see them in there...I will try to get an inside pic of them.

I'm confused. Do you have stock seats or Sparcos with those harnesses? And why not remove the factory belts?

Stock seats with Sparco harnesses. I bought the seatbelts b/c I autocross the car and they hold you in better, but I also tend to use them for everyday use....why not remove the factory belts??? Law enforcement and choice!!!

OK, here's my take on the harness issue.

Up till recently, I've had a hard-on for harnesses, since I auto-x 2-3 times a month.

I am shorter than the holes in the Si seats, so there is no way for a harness to compress downward onto my sholders, but I have wondered if they would "pinch" in on my neck, or lift up on the back of my helmet.

I kept a passive eye out for stories and recommendations, and recently I heard in the H-T auto-x/roadrace board that they say not to get harnesses without a rollcage, because if the car rolls, you cant duck your body down when the roof caves in... so you get your neck broken.

Still, I want to see how they fit with the stock seats, SilverEP... I'd like to see a pic of what it looks like wearing them, too. You never know when a roll-cage will come in the mail! ;)

i've heard the same thing, but then i thought... how often have you seen a car roll at an auto-x though?

I have only seen one car roll at a Auto x and that was a Toyoto Echo.

I HAD the 3 point bolt SPARCO belts...I didnt like them cause i couldnt unbolt it on a regular basis so i sold them.

Julie ephatchgirl, has the 3 point Snap SPARCO belts...She can just unsnap her belt when she wants to use her other OEM belt wich is nice.

just remember if u get them and u use them for daily driving it feels like your in a baby seat all strapped in...i personally felt like a ricer having them on all the time, but hey, they are nice...

Eric

ps yes they work with our seats, but check with your local mechanic if your state will pass your inspection with them on your car

Can someone tell me where to get these belts? I smashed up my car and the passenger airbag went off (with no one sitting there :-( ) So now the seatbelts wont work and I cant afford the $1300+ for the airbag and seatbelt right now. SO im gonna strap in these sparco belts for like 3-5 weeks till I can afford to put airbag in too.. right now Im just worried about the car being on the road.

Where did you get them?

K-Series

These are completely unsafe for our car for a few reasons. The main being that we're using one hole for the both of the shoulder straps (read pinched neck like BlasTech said).

The RSX seats at least have 2 separate holes so they can use them effectively.

I'd suggest not using aftermarket belts with out stock seats.

I ordered them thru my local Sparco dealer, happens to be my friend's shop. Also, I do not see where the neck pinching would affect. I have had no problem with that.

CAN YOU SIT IN THE BACK SEATS WITH THOSE BELTS IN????????????????????

SilverEP
11-24-2003, 04:35 PM
Yep I carry 4 people from time to time. You kinda have to crawl under them to get into the back seat but they dont impose on backseat riders!!!:D

BE CAREFUL!!!

There has been alot of threads about this subject, here's one
http://ephatch.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=8519&perpage=15&highlight=harness&pagenumber=2

here's a quote from Sparco USA website:

"It is strongly recommended that the shoulder harnesses are fitted as close to horizontal as possible. It is a must that the angle of the shoulder harness does not exceed 45 degrees in relation to the theoretical horizontal axis of the mounting points. It is recommended that the harnesses be mounted to the fixing points suggested by the car manufacturer. The fixing points should always be reinforced by a steel plate fitted on the outer side of the car, not by welding or pop riveting."

It will basically crush your spine during hard braking.
I won't be an ass and told you what you should or should not do, so just think about all the facts before you install something.

SilverEP

The rear mounting position of my belts are at less than a 45 degree angle. They show you this in the instruction manuals with the belts. Mine are at a 35 degree angle from the horizontal axis. Thanks for the warning though, but I was already aware of it;)
