View Full Version : Help Me Spot My Mods!

Last week, I bought a used 02 Si with 10k miles. When I first bought the car, i wanted to keep it stock, and not do shiat to it. Later, that night I got home and i started looking on the net for info on the civic. I then come to find out that there are few extras the car like: Red H badges, hyper turn signals, 6 disc changer, red interior lights, foglights, Type-R badges-front and back (which i removed yesterday), and the rims. So i was like, coo, a few extras, i can live with that. Then later on that night i go to work and my friend has a look at the car, and notices: AEM CAI, and that its lowered. Ok, i can live with those mods too. A few days later i notice the C/F dash kit. Now that's not stock right? Isn't that something you have to purchase extra? I keep looking at this site and notice the valve/manifold cover is grey and has a red badge. That's not stock too, right? I know the red badge isn't, but what about the cover?

Since then i have removed the rear "Civic" badge, and i plan on removing the "DOHC Ivtec" stickers tomorow.

There are wheel locks on the tires, but I don't have the key. Is there anyway to have the locks removed?

Also, is there anything that you can see, that is not OEM, that i haven't mentioned? Thanks.

Whats Kind of springs is this thing sitting on?

Haha, u just figured this stuff out? It has OEM Civic EX/Ciciv Si EM wheels, and what looks like CTR headlights... As for the springs, i dunno... But you also have a new manifold cover in the engine bay, an AEM cold air intake, and a big ol red honda badge on the engine...

you have what appears to me as eibach sportlines...best springs you get imo...most expensive ones too.

Also your headlights appear to be JDM CTR headlights...pretty penny for those also.

The valve cover is a type s valve cover with a customized H on it.

You have red bulb interior light, that's not stock.

The rims, of course are not what comes with car. Also the dash is after market...could be oem honda carbon fiber dash that you have to pay extra for...the fogs are not standard.

So you got a pretty good si. By any chance are your shocks yellow? :D

The car was 16,000. It runs good, and the gas isnt that bad. I'm just surprised that someone would put that much time, and money into a car, and then get rid of it. How much do those headlights cost, and how are they different from the USDM hedlights? Should i have left the type-r badges on the car? It also looks as if there was a square emblem next to the "civic" badge. Could it have been a UK flag? The old license plate on the car was "MRVETEC"

the square emblem would have been the UNion jack flag, by the looks in the picture you have the OEM CF dash kit, also looks like you have after market alarm

Nick G

It looks like there is a different button next to the cruise control button. I have a hard time believe you paid 16,000 for that car. Those floor mats don't come standard either. If you buy them from the dealer I think they are 80 bucks.

I bought my si used also. It came w/ the mats, lowering springs, and the red honda badges. Its funny because I was telling my friend how much I wanted to drop the car when I first got it. Well it turns out that when I went to get my first oil change at a lube joint up the street there was a guy there that had an si also. I tried to pull up on the oil changing platform but I could'nt because my bottom was scraping so much. Thats when the guy asked me if it was dropped. I said no its stock height as far a I know. He said it could'nt be. I pulled up beside his to compare and I swear it looked like his shit was a 4x4. It looked alot higher than mine. He also saved me a few hundred bucks for new springs.:o :D

thats a good deal for 16k, also you can tell its not a K20A2 from the engine pic ( the pulley is not located up top on the K20a2 AKA type-s engine)

nice lights **

so you bought a car, and didnt know you had anything on the car till your friend told you.... hmm.. i think you should have done a little more research before you bought the car.

Old neuspeeds ARE red. They changed to yellow recently (past 4 months or so). I have the red ones. However they obviously do not say skunk2 on them. The drop does look like 2" tho.

How to find out what engine you have:

Giving a little bit of gas, slowly release the clutch in 1st ... then hammer it ... don't change gears until your hear "weeeee-neeee-neeee". Look at your tach. If you see 7000 rpm (or 7300), then it's a k20a3. If you're at 8000 or above, I don't want to hear about it ... you bastard :) (means you have Hondata or a K20a2).

get us a picture of ur guage cluster. since the previous owner put alot of other type-r stuff on it, and it could possibly have an engine swap, maybe he put in a ctr cluster. can u get us a pic of that close up?

looks like a stock gauge, plus, I'm sure he'd say something about having a 6 speed if he had the engine swap

Nick G

Unfortunately, it has the SI cluster, and its only a 5 speed. :(
