Does anyone know at what point past redline you either do some damage or if there is a fuel cutoff that kicks in? Last night i was driving the ep a little hard and my foot slipped, slammed the gas right before a shift and the engine ran up to about 7,200 or 7,300 RPM.

doubt it hurt anything, the tach is off any. hopefully it was only like 6800. I shift at about 7200 or 7300 on my tach before fuel cut off.

I didnt't thank that it hurt anything. I just wanted to know if it could run higher than what they set it at.

to be honest, i dont know what kind of damage can be done, i do know that when my mechanic checked my computer, he told me that it registered at 8300. i told him that it couldnt be, he was going to show me later be he reset it.

i didnt think it would hurt much taking it all the way to the cutoff. i have hit the cut off a couple times. the car just realy wants to rev up there and there is no loss of power doing it eather. oops

Yeah man, dont worry about it... Thats what the cutoff is there for... So u dont do damage... I take it up to 7100 before i shift lots of the time... My car runs fine...

I think cuz our motor has two bigger brothers(a2,a) that rev 8000+ , the a3 can handle feul cutoff shifts easily.

plus if you add hondata you can rev to almost 8k without any damage. i've never heard of hondata doing any damage to the ep3 yet, anybody else?

In the hondata'd ep I drove, it seemed like the EP was quite at home over 7K, even sounds natural.
