'02 Si's come with 15" wheels. I wanted to upgrade it to 17" after I buy one but I heard that the bigger size will only slow my car down. Is there any truth to that? Would 16" be a better trade-off?

What are some light -weight wheel brands on the market? I don't want to lose speed just to look good.

I keep saying the CTR has 17s, so go with 17s...that's what I have on my ride. I have a hard time believing it slows you down much...doubt you could even notice the difference.

smaller the wheel, faster the car, but who kares if it'll make the car look better.. i mean, i wouldn't want 13"s on mine just cuz they're faster :)

A 205/40/17 tire size on a lightweight wheel will not affect your gearing and the reduced weight should help improve performance. As far as weight goes, most wheels this size are heavy, but you can find some light ones too. Lighter they get, the more expensive they usually get too. Volk, Centerline, SSR, Velox, Kosei, and some others currently have some lightweight 17"s on the market. Our stock 15"s weight around 19.6lbs, I think.

You say the stock wheels are 20lbs? How do i find out the weight of new wheels?

sometimes they say how heavy their particular rim is, but most of the time you find to find out somehow. these rims are about 9 lbs in 15s and about 12 lbs??? in 16s each. and they are sweet looking, but expensive...

Most places don't advertise weight unless it is light, but you can call the manufacturer or if you're having them shipped then the shop should probably know. Tire Rack has weights for all the wheels they sell.

i believe the ctr has 205/45 series tires. thats what im running on mine and the guy from tirerack also recommended that size. as long as you dont put heavy ass wheels on youll be fine. theres a lot of companys that sell fairly light weight wheels like david mentioned. im very pleased with my velox and there pg-5 wheel in a 17 is only like 12,13 pounds.

my logic is that the smller the diameter of the tire, the higher the rpms have to be to keep the car running at the same speed. Higher rpms=staying above the vtec line.

Dont forget, typically when you put a larger wheel on, you put a thinner tire on...so the weight does balance a little back in your favor some, unless the new tires are extremely wide...

I saw these rims on www.rim1.com selling for only $400 for a set. They look just like the style that I like and I think this is one of the better styles that fits with the Si's lines. I just have to call the website up and ask about the weight of the tires.
