Who here can read Japanese? :crym: Are these things for sale? I want one!!!

Also...

Who knows what kind of rims are on the real BTCC cars? Those are sweet, I want a set. I dunno how they'd look on black though... maybe I can get some bigass red graphics for my car. ;)

its a fujimi plastic 1/24 scale plastic model built by someone that builds for a living, no doubt. most high end hobby shops carry these or can get these. expect to pay $30 to $50 for one of their kits.

Damn. I enjoy building models but I can't paint or apply decals to save my life. It always comes out looking like ass... or worse.

=(

So the second question - anyone know what kind of rims are on the real btcc car?

Yup. I found a source for them in England a couple of months ago, but the Superleggeras are lighter, cheaper, and have four less spokes to clean...

They do come in 4x100, but they're not imported and sold as far as I can tell and they're relatively heavy and expensive. You can get them from Europe, but by the time you pay to ship them, they're too expensive. Get Superleggeras.

:sadm: how much?

bobdobbs

The wheels were about $300/each and shipping was like $75. $1500 for a set of four.

Edit: By the way, they're 23 pounds in 17"!

I bought some OZ Mito 15x6.5 about 10 years ago. they have gone up on their prices. must be proud of em. I know, it has been 10 years, but DAMN, inflation is a bitch.

sorry man this guy custom built it out of a CTR plastic model. he had to look at BTCC pictures and fabricate those parts and decals

I can't imagine they would use 23lb wheels on the BTCC cars? Although that civic is apparently almost 300hp. Oh well. Thanks nozomi for the info on the model. That sucks. I am waiting for an autoart model of our car or something.

The superleggeras don't look bad, but its not the same. They just don't have that same rally/hatchback/euro look. You know what I mean? Same style wheels on focus rally car, see that style a lot on VW GTI's and such also. It's really a "euro-hatch" kind of rim.

I really want those wheels but it would cost around $1,000 to import a set of 15 x 7's. Theres so many other wheels that are just as light or lighter and much cheaper that I can't justify spending that much money just because I like that look so much.

Regulations. All the cars use them. (i.e., it doesn't matter).

It's possible that the wheels OZ supplies the Honda BTCC team isn't the same as what they're selling you. A race team might sacrifice some strength to save weight, since there aren't many pot holes on race tracks. A wheel for the open road, however, has to be much stronger, especially with low-profile tires on a 17" rim.
