So I went to the Acura dealer to get an oil filter and it was nicely shrink wrapped in plastic, but all of the bare metal inside was rusty! It wasn't just discoloured with the beginnings of oxidation, there were actual rusty bits floating aroud and stuck to the reddish coloured material behind the holes.

The person at the dealership was very good about it and brought out the entire case to let me hand pick one that I wanted. It seemed to be the only one, so she kept it aside to show the service manager.

Anyway, just a reminder, check your filter before you buy it.

P.S. I originally went to the Acura dealer to avoid the whole wrong oil filter situation, but I've since found out that all Honda dealerships should have this filter because it's the same one used on the K24 CRV.

Happy wrenching

We see this every now and then, maybe one every 10,000 filters or so. A filter that didn't get properly treated at the factory probably. When you see one like this, it's hard to miss ;)
