Would I see any gains if I put in a RSX ecu, into a 02 si w/ just a CAI?

Thanks.

no

Probably not much since the ecu will hit a rev-limiter'esk point way below the redline when it doesnt find any vtec to engage.

So to see gains, I would need a Head?

Head + ecu = poor mans swap hehe but for real i would love to do that myself, and you would see gains, some people spout off about 180 whp but I have yet to see a dyno.

What if I got a head with no ECU, would the gains be minimal then because I wouldn't be using the full potential of the head?

Thanks.

Yes our ECU does not take advantage of the Vtec point at 5200 rpms i think? We dont even really have a vtec. Also your redline is limited to the stock 6800 where the rsx goes to about what 7800?

I'm sure fuelmaps and such are a bit more agressive on a rsx type s ecu.

this has been done b4:

base rsx ecu is set up to use the dual intake runners for some low end.. will gain about 5 tq below 4500 rpm

type s ecu is designed to use a 3 stage vtec, on both intake and exhaust sides

however the ep ecu only has 2 vtec lobes and only on the intake side of the motor. ep doesnt have vtec on the exhaust side

so u have to do a head+ecu swap if ur going type s. as far as the base rsx vs ep ecu the blocks are identical, but the rsx has dual runner intake manifold, as far as i know the fuel maps are identical

i think our vtec is always on

theres 2 rsx's. base and type s.

base is almost the same as ep. vtec engages at 2200 rpm approximatly. that can change depending on engine load

the type s has a 3 stage ivtec. incompatible with the a3 (ep) head
