ATM w/about 2k miles on my car i am getting like 185-195 when light comes on:( i shift at 4-6k most of the time(**i like going fast**) is this why i am getting like 150 miles less per gallon(**searched and saw ppl getting 290-360 when light comes on**) ne info would be awsome, as it will save me mega bux in the future:D

This is pretty doubtful. The light usually goes off somewhere around 10 gals used. That means you'd be getting just under 20mpg. That is not within a range that driving style would be responsbile for. Maybe, though, your gas light just comes on earlier than it should. Next time you get gas, record the mileage. The next time you get gas subtact your current mileage from your previous and divide by the number of gallons you hve to fill up the tank. If it is less than 26mpg, than something is probably wrong with your car.

If you are shifting at 6k RPMS, that's why you are getting shitty gas milage. This car drinks gas like water. You have to drive like a granny to get 26-30mpg. I usually shift at like 4k rmps and get like 265 miles until the light comes on.

When the light does come on, you still have 3 gallons of gas left.

Yeah there are people on here that say they get 30mpg and I still don't believe it. I went a whole week shifting and 3.5k and couldn't do any better than 25 mpg. So I just went back to shifting at around 4 and 4.5 even though I get the same 25. Sometimes I regret the 2.0 for that reason, but only when it's time to fork out the cash for the gas.

I drive an '01 EX Coupe right now and I have never been more dissapointed in the gas mileage of any car. EPA rates my car at 32/38. I normally get 26-28 mpg in mixed city/freeway driving. The highest I've ever gotten is 33 on a trip to LA. I drive "grandmaly" too...shifting usually by 3k and definitely by 4k...and I usually cruise at 70mph on the freeway. I tried to get Honda to look at my car to make sure all of the sensors are working and stuff. They just told me that I drive too fast. I have been eyeing the '04 Si and can't wait to test drive one. The way I see it is if I can pull the same gas mileage in an Si w/33 extra horses and not see 4 of my car on every corner it's a win/win situation. :)

I had read in another thread that switching to regular gas (87 octane here) would help improve mileage. It doesn't, I'm on my third tank of 87 octane and I still get 24.8 m/g. I got 24.8 m/g on 91 octane too. No matter what I do, the fuel light comes on at right around 250 miles.

Has anyone turboed their ep3 yet? Just wondering what gas mileage those get.
