does anybody make a front grill replacement without the H. kinda like the aftermarket grills made for the 6 gen civics. if someone does make one of those i do plan on putting a smaller red H on the hood like the older gen type-r's. what do you all think of that type of mod? i know i will get flamed but i like the idea. just need to find a replacement grill.

Ask someone to photochop it for you, its a pretty original idea, i hope it works out for you.

Nah I remember reading that it's not supposed to sit flush. Do they even fit the US bumpers and everything?

Mugen grill fits on USDM front bumper. oh and about those altezza style grill should come out for our cars.. There are soo many cheap grills for 7thgens (01-03 civics). Just give some times. I am sure companies will start making them. However, Grillcraft makes uppergrill too..

the main problem is the backing behind our h's. on the 6th gen si, the entire backing can be taken off, and you get a totally blank grille. you don't need to buy a replacement. on ours, the backing is molded into the mesh...

you have the option of getting the grillcraft upper grille... that one doesn't look too bad, but its too fine of a mesh for my liking. i would like to see one that looks like the plastic mesh on the ep, but with no h backing.

The reason GrillTech's site has those x's is they are place holders for a product soon to be released. A Little Birdie told me it would be soon, and possibly in a few different flavors...

02civicSI - I don't think you will get flamed for this at all. MANY ep owners want what your asking for, some with and without a place for the H to go. Can't say I'm not one of them either ;)

weren't there some members who just went to Home Depot and got some wire mesh to replace their front upper grille? that's what i would do if someone would do a DIY.

It would look like shit, your radiator would be a home to stray cats:)

i experimented ...not only is there really no place to disquise the zip ties, the chicken wire (i used black plastic gutter guard) is flemsy and there are holes from the stock grill that you can hide and would look ugly if they were filled...

here's a chop. i think it looks out of place because our hood is so small.
