Well...you'll be doing to the Si what previous Si owners have done. Beat your car for 2-4 years and then sell it to some sorry sap.

i shift from 4k to 5k all the time. the only time i shift at 3k is when i am warming her up.

A mechanic at Honda told me that it was actually BETTER for the trans to shift around 5k. It's weird, it does actually feel like it sort of 'wants' to be shifted around there. As for the engine, we all know more revs=bad. On the other hand, what's the first thing to go out: engine or trans? On the EP, it's definately trans.

i shift at about 3.5... it shifts real good around 3-5k.... I guess its natural or something... But yeah about everyday i take it to redline once in a while to see whatsup and stuff :) but it won't kill the motor... our motors do need to breathe!!!!!!!

3.5 to 4 K is ideal for "Normal" shifting.

Bogging your engine isn't a brilliant idea either, and the Turbo is putting constant stress on it if you have one.

Don't be afraid to flog it every once and a while though, all cars wear out, and I doubt you will have the EP for 10 years no matter how much you love it. Have fun with her, it's the life in your years not the years in your life.

And when the engine dies, if you want to keep her, swap in a K20A2 and 6 speed and party on....Problem solved.

I'd rather DRIVE my Ep for 5 years, then swap in an A2, rather than pussy around in it and drive it like the grandma's and grandpa's that bought the car allong with all of us young folks. If you keep your engine/trans completely stock than you can feel free to beat on it all day long, and so long as you service it regularly, it'll last for a long time. Just think of it this way man, your car could be jacked tomorrow, and all of your babying and sitting on it, when you really wanted to be stepping on it, will be a loss.

yeah like you all watch my burnout videos and say omg! i would never do that and never take my car over 4k, it doesnt even make good power till 4k, you bought it for performance dont say you didnt, otherwise you would have gotten the EX or the hybrid.... so drive it like you stole it! or your missing out. cant wait for my hondata next week so i can take her HIGHER!

does bogging mean shifting low like below 2500rpm?

sniperSI

Bogging is anytime you floor it, well i guess any throttle postion, and the car doesnt move like it supposed to , it 'boggs' then gets up to speed.

At least i think thats what it is.

Which incidently i think is the part of shifting the SI that is crucial

The 1 to 2 shift and 2 to 3 shift, if you don't hit it right on , then you drop below 5000 rpms for just a hair, but enough to bog it for a second.

Gotta nail that 1 to 2 shift to really rocket the EP.
