hey im installing some gauges...

i got a boost gauge, and a electronic oil pressure gauge among others, i know how to install the air fuel gauge, and the volts gauge is already in, i just have a question on where to tap the boost gauge, i know there is a vaccum line near the head that goes to the brake booster, i should be able to use that...

and where is the best location for a oil pressure gauge?

guys with the turbo's where did you tap yours?

Hey denmah, I've got a couple questions for you.
For your vacuum line, did you drill through the firewall or did you feed the line through somewhere else?
Also, what wires did you tap into for the electrical part?
Thanks in advance.

well to hook up the gauges to the dash light control i tapped the dash light wire on the hazards. the entire volts gauge is tapped into the hazards. works perfectly because there is a constant 12v, a dash 12v, ignition 12v etc etc all in that little clip.

the best way to get the power you want is to get one of those 12v accesory lights. ill show you what it is if you dont know what im talking about, its looks almost like a punch tool but you ground one end and in the middle of the handle it has a buzzer or light, mine has both, and when you hit a 12v it does its thing...

so with everything off and the tool grounded, if you hit a wire and it goes off, its a 12v constant....
next if you turn your ignition and hit a wire and it goes off, then switch your keys to off again, thats obviously an ingnition line.

you can do this to find dash wires and anything even things such as the vtec noid wire.

i cut the line going into my vaccum booster, i have a pic here...http://www.herrforce.com/misc/vactap.jpg

then its easily run into the car thru this gromet. its like the only solid blue wire in the engine bay and you can see it clearly if you take out that left knee storage space, all you have to do is jam your hand in there and push it out, works extremely well and there is plenty more room to pass more things if you want.

here is another pillar shot. i have the dash light wired from the hazards behind everything and up into the pillar. extremely easy and clean looking, i even have it in looming. now the replacement pillar doesnt have snap ins like our stock ones do. you need to puch a and drill a hole and screw it into place, there is a metal clip in the last top gauge hole where you screw it into the metal.

i also have everything grounded to the frame in there, just use a self tapping screw right into the frame... and get yourself some good bits... that metal is hard as hell.

and here is a pic of behind my shifter.
ill get more pics and help you guys out if you need it, ide even do a wire diagram for the colors and let you know what each color wire is if you really want to. for behind the hazards.

overall i was very impressed with the ebay triple pillar. took the guys a while to ship but he said he hand made it after i ordered it, its a 100% perfect fit. but i only paid 66 with shipping to get it.

anything else?

Which wire do you tap into behind the hazards? I'm installing a gauge next to the shifter and that would be a convenient location to power the backlight on the gauge.

ok i found the stock oil pressure sending unit, but it doesnt have the right signal the gauge needs, so i need to T connect the stock and the aftermarket oil pressure sending unit. imma do that later tonight.

the stock oil pressure sending unit is right above the oil filter on the back left side of the engine.

I want to wire it up to the whatever wire provides power to the back light when you turn the headlights on...red backlight. I got a mechanical nitrous pressure gauge. So when I turn headlights on, the nitrous gauge should light up. I see on your picture with the shifter boot taken off that you tapped/crimped wires but I can't see which color wire you crimped. Please let me know Thanks:)
