I'm tired of working on my cars laying on cold cement. Does anybody have a lift in their garage? I've seen mini-lifts but don't know much about them. Anybody?

been contemplating the purchase. a two post lift with 6000lb capacity is around $2400 and requires a 13 foot ceiling, a 12-18 inch thick footing directly under the bases, and a 220 power source. a friend of mine has one and it will spoil ya QUICK.

You got a website I can look at? The big problem I have is my garage ceiling is only 8 feet. I'm not sure how useful the mini-lifts are that only raise your car four feet or so. Better than nothing I suppose but I want to be able to stand under my cars. Looks like I gotta move. :D

hope these give you some ideas. and no reason to move, raise your roof!:D
and don't waste your money on mini lifts. they get in the way doing big stuff, like turbos and clutches.

Thanks for the links. I found this one:

Only a 26" lift, but it leaves the undercarriage open. $1800.

Can't raise the garage roof, unfortunately, since there's a bedroom above it. Typical for a 70-year-old house.

WTF are you doing ALWAYS laying on the garage floor? The wife kick you out of the house or something? A lift would be awsome to have. I suppose I could make my garage have 13 foot cellings since I bought a ranch. I think the house would look a little funny though.

Dude, once you get married you're going to REALLY appreciate being able to hide under a car in the garage. ;)

I wish I had one too. I hope in about 2 years to buy one from work. This year is a welder from work next year is going to be a lift. My shop is 30 feet tall and the beams are 10 feet apart so I am set just have to make the footings for it since the floor is only 6 inches deep.

then you got to get one that locks/hides in the bedroom...precisely when i go to the family room to shoot some pool while staying warm:D

well i DON'T have a lift...and if i did, that would be like upskirts daily to satisfy my auto addiction...though my garage has a 12 feet ceiling when the garage door is closed :D Just can't open it with posts;)

What did you think of it? Good quality? Easy to use?

It was very easy to use. It seemed to strugle with some of the older big v8 cars but for little cars like the ep it was a breeze. Press the button and up she goes. There is a lever that locks it too just in case the lift fails. It made oil changes TOO easy.
