Some shop told me that they wouldn't install my H&R springs, if I didn't have lowering struts. Then they said if I had the struts also, it would be around $300 for the install.

That is just crazy. I'll try to tackle the install myself. When Chicago unthaws of course.

yea it might be a good idea to wait for struts anyways, since HOPEFULLY they should be out soon.. dont wanna do a painful spring install then have to do it again when shocks come out.

Yeah Zero, forgetaboutit. That is a huge rip, if I didn't know anyone. I still wouldn't pay more than 200 with alignment.

$200 would be as high as I would go, there are only a few places (and people) here I would trust.

After you do it yourself (and Chicago has a warmish day) you won't be afraid to tackle other suspension-related jobs like brake work. I'd never pay that much to get springs installed, even though I would charge that much if I owned a shop.

If you can wait we are trying to put together that install day and there you can get install for the nice low price of $0.

I know man...I'm trying to hold off until that day. If I had a garage, I would just get a heater and all of us could hang out there.

one6 motorsports, in arlington heights, charged my budyy $60 an hour and it took them a little over an hour so he paid around $80. if any shop, i'd recommend them, they're friendly, fair, and do great work.

Thanks man! There aren't many car shops in the Chicago Land area. I'll look them up.

no problem. i've done a lot of busniess with shops around the chicagoland area, if you need a recommendation about where to get a decent install or which shops are credible, just ask.

i highly recommend one6. they'll treat you good.

it might be cuz im poor...but does anyone else thing install fees are a serious waste of money?! i mean, you could more than likely Do it yourself but you are paying someone to do it for you. and You will NEVER know how its done. Of course, installers need to eat and live but comon now! 60 bucks an hour? for some of the HARDER installs...yes, but an intake install which to claim to work for 2 hours and charge all those innocent racer-to-bes is just malicious. OOpps, sorry had to vent a little.

nothing wrong with paying to install though. i've done most of the installs on my current and previous autos, but if you don't have the means or the tools, or the mechanical ability, shops are great if they are competent. if i can't do it myself, or if i'm not comfortable with the install, i'm not going to DIY it and end up having to shell out more than i could have if it was done right the first time. and really, it's all about the shop and how they want to conduct business when they charge for labor. in many cases, their fees are quite fair.
