does anyone know how this intake sounds?

silver ep

_Heres a quote from a 99 si owner talking about the icebox:

"Their new Ice Box cold-air intake system supplies outside air to their open-element air intake system. Unlike some other systems we have seen, the Comptech setup features the necessary fittings for the air intake temperature sensor.
So what did these parts do for performance? According to Atlantic Performance's Dynojet chassis dyno, our horsepower at the front wheels went from 136 up to 151, about an 11-percent increase. There were no loses at the bottom end, either, so street manners are still good. What the dyno doesn't show is the increase in throttle response."

Im pretty sure it doesnt sound as loud as CAIs, I think it has a nice deep tone.

I called them and the guy I talked said to e-mail their technical support. So I did that just waiting on an e-mail back. At first the guy said it was for the coupe's and then he said he would check on it. But then told me he really wasn't sure and to e-mail tech support.

I ordered mine from nopi.com, and they said that it was in fact for the 02 si....I didn't e-mail them, but I didn't think that it was a problem. If it is, then I wait. The comptech website said that its out, I think....

"It should be ready any day now and ship directly from Comptech. All advance orders will ship from Comptech's facility."

The bastards at nopi.com suck...I ordered the intake, and they claim to have e-mailed me  Which I know is crap, cause I would have the e-mail....and I don't!!! Anyway, they say that they don't have the part, and that they contacted comptech, and THEY don't have it either, so I guess its not there????? So I went to autoparts.com like you guys and gave that a go. I'll see what they can do for me.

The comptech Ice Box has to be used with their short ram filter doesn't it?

So if the Ice Box is $250 and thier intake is $190 (I'm guessing) that's a lot for a CAI.

Steve
I would assume since it's called the Ice box that it will include the whole deal. Isn't this how it worked with the 99-00 si's?

Steve: that looks like $330 to me

but on autocarparts its like $259, what am I missing?

ssvr6

This is for the 99-00 Si, not ours. (There's no info for our cars on their site.)

Ok I finally got a reply back from autocarparts.com.

I'm sorry, but Comptech is not ready to release this item, ETA is in any day now. They are putting the finishing touches on the intake.

That is exactly what they sent me.

joneSi
09-24-2002, 02:46 PM
The comptech icebox is the short ram with a cold air extension. I think that the prices that I've seen are for the entire set...if not I STILL WANT ONE.

you gotta LOVE those gains!

Thanks for the feedback, I have yet to hear back from Comptech

I wonder how long "any day now" is?

I'm callin' bs on the part of autocarparts.com They just sent me an e-mail and they cancelled my order, this is what they said:

"Thank you for your order. Unfortunately, this part # has not been released by Comptech yet. There is no ETA on this yet, but may be around the end of October.
Due to the unknown availability date, I am cancelling this order, and voiding the authorization to your credit card.
If you would like to order this item in the future, please email us first for availability (around the end of October)."

Ef that. Those bastards...All I want is some decent bolt ons!!!!

Anybody know where I can get a header or exhaust?????

You have to look for the base RSX for the HP header.

i just 5 seconds ago talked to another guy from comptech, he told me this...

Available now: Springs / Strut Bars

Available at the end of this month: Headers / Exhaust

Available at the end of November: Icebox/Intake

Chalk up another sad day for us owners, i was getting excited when i heard a few ppl on this post found it for sale so i called again, all we can do is wait. :(

silver ep

thats very depressing news about the icebox coming out not till november :(

its cool the exhaust and headers are coming out soon though

hacim
09-25-2002, 08:41 AM
Thats ok, it gives me an opurtunity to save some cash for the icebox. Cant expect every company out there to be punctual with product release dates.

ssvr6
09-25-2002, 10:54 AM
Headers are $500 and the Exhaust is $650. That's just fvcking nuts.
