Well here's the deal...
I thought it was too good to be true...
My friend and mechanic Pete knows a guy that owns a towing company...
Pete told him if he ever comes across an RSX-S to let him know...
The guy got in a 2002 RSX-S with 17k miles...
I beleive (not sure) it was recovered from a chop shop and he said that it was scheduled to be crushed in 10 days but I could take whatever I wanted for $1000...
I ran a carfax on it and came back clean w/ their $5000 guarantee, not satisfied I called my friend who's a cop and asked him to run the VIN and plate both came back clean...
So I took the engine/trans/5 lug brake conversion/sway bars/etc...
Everything's out of the donor and will be going into my car after XMAS...

I decided to keep everything I can use and just sell some of the random crap like the Bose CD/tape headunit, HVAC controls, etc.
I'll be happy enough rolling around on the 5 lug RSX 16" alloys.

Don't forget, now I can sell my K20A3 swap and stock wheels and probably end up making a couple thousand on the deal. :D

seats were gone, speakers i gave to my mechanic, hood had a dent, headunit i took, spare was gone.

Congrats! I'm jealous of the deal too, but it's all good. There's an A2 out there for just about any budget it you look hard enough. Have you driven an Si with the swap? You will love it! Welcome to the Si/A2 club!

It's what the Si should have been all along. I really think Honda should have built a regular Civic Hatch with the A3 motor and the Si with the A2 motor (badge them as "Civic" and "Civic Si" since there seems to be some aversion to selling a Type R in the US).

I was never interested in the RSX body style but the motor is wonderful. The A3 is a good motor but the A2 is better, especially at the top end.

Will the towing company issue you a title for the engine and trans? Like when you get pulled over by the Po-po and have to pop the hood for them to inspect the vin#'s for the motor. The only reason why I ask is the cops usually ask you to prove that it is yours and w/o proper paperwork it's hard.

I know a few gas stations that have towed a few volkswagons and the owners never came to claim them. They offered to sell them for cheap but w/o a title. The vins came up clean as well.

No, I can't get a title, but I got a receipt from the towing company w/ the VIN on it, I have a copy of the carfax report and have my friend who's a cop to back it up (he ran the VIN at headquarters).

Also, "po-po's" in NJ don't check vin's.
That's typically just a NYC/CA thing, where street racing is a huge problem.

From the pictures you posted, it looked like there was minimal damage to the RSX. If it is minimal, you should put your K20A3 and tranny in that, and use it as your daily beater.

Not exactly sure what happened to it.
The RSX is scheduled to be crushed in a few days.
I paid $1000 to be able to pick any parts I want off it before it's crushed.

You are one lucky mofo. I have some questions for you that I'll PM you with when the time is right (when I actually have money for the swap), but one question has been bugging me. So say you get the A2 in there, but you don't find a buyer for your A3. WTF are you supposed to do with it?

I don't know about most guys but I don't have space to keep an engine hanging around? I guess if you went low enough on the price an EM2 owner is bound to pick it up, but what will you be doing with it once its out of your car?? Any advice to others that don't have space to store an engine and tranny, etc?

yup that's mine on eBay w/ the silver I/M cover...
if i CAN get the subframe I WILL and it will be included free...
but i won't know for a couple days...
we asked the tow truck driver if he would remove it for us just before he crushes the RSX (we're gonna leave all the bolts hand tight)...
we'll see if that happens...

I was given a hefty discount.
But he said if anyone in the NJ area needs this swap done, he would charge approx. $900 to $1100 total for labor.
That still sounds pretty cheap to me, and he does EXCELLENT work.
He has built numerous race Honda/Acura's 500HP+.
