Was installing the short shift kit I got for Christmas and dropped the clip that secures the shift cable to the shifter.
Does any body know how likely it is for the shift cable to come loose?
Also, does anybody know where I can get a replacement clip, and a part # if you have it.

Thanks

I am gonna take a guess and say you should prob have that on there, but you might be able to get away without it for a short period of time but I would definitly get one.

i had this same problem. here is how i fixed it. i used a magnetic screwdriver and fished for the piece. i got it on my first try. it is a good idea to have that piece. you dont want to be driving and have that thing come off.

Thanks for the help guys. I tried fishing for it, even went and bought an extendable magnetic grabber, and a flashlight with a bendable neck so I could look down in there. I got all four of the metal inserts to the rubber bushings that fell down in there when I put the aluminum bushings on, but no clip.
I think the shift-cable-retainer-clip goblins must have gotten it.:( I really don't like driving around without it so I'll see if the local Honda place has any in stock on Monday.

Advise to people putting on a short shifter. Don't drop this part!!!

Just got P/N 54357-SN7-000 from the local Honda dealer, and that is not the part I need. What I have discovered after a consultation with the Parts Manager is that Honda does not sell the part I need separately, that to get it I would have to order the whole shift cable assembly (part # 5) in the diagram above, for $117.00.

The only thing I can think to do know is to take my dash apart to find the part I dropped, or find an EP in a junkyard somewhere. Anybody in the Georgia Area know of a wrecked EP?

Mike, if you don't mind the drive we could meet tomorrow. I have taken my whole bottom off to get a shifter bushing. I can do it real quick...

That works, I'll ride down there, cause It really makes me nervous not having the clip on.

Thanks,

Do you mean when stuff is taken out :) Man that was time consuming, luckily I had instructions to help me with what needed to be removed.
Now that I know where everything is, I predict without any damage, about 15 min to find that sucka :D
