It is designed to strengthen the upper cylinder sleeve area of your engine block under high RPM and high load conditions creating solid cylinder walls. The block guard presses into the block sleave for easy install and permits water jacket coolant flow. I have seen it run in the range of $109-$250. This is much cheaper than a complete resleeving.
