Like most of you here, I wait until the Si warms up before I rev it. I usually watch the temp gauge to tell when the engine is warm. However, does the temp gauge tell when the engine is warm and the oil is dispersed? Or does it merely tell when the fluids are warmed up?

How can you tell when the engine is warmed up?

I dont know about everyone else, but I dont watch the temp gauge. I look at the tach.. When I first start my car in the morning, it idles at about 1500-1800.. when I see that start to drop.. then I know its warmed up.

I think a combo of the temp gauge and the tach work best. You can start to tell by the temp gauge but when the rpms die down that is the sure fire proof that its warm

i believe the temp gauge is engine water temp. oil is probably up to temp within seconds of starting.
