here goes my bitchfest for the day...

well i ordered some rota circuit 8's 16x7 in black with the polished lip. i sent the payment overnight. they email me two days later saying their warehouse got flooded and two out of the four rims were badly damaged. damnit. i want my rims. they said they would have another set in a month. i said to send the payment back to me. now i have the option of trying to find four of those circuit 8's or going with the gunmetal with the polished lip. but wait thats not it.

went to the acura dealer today to buy the small part for the shiftboot so you can put an aftermarket shift knob on (i have a small rubber piece from a bushing on there right now but it looks kinda ugly). they didnt have it!!!! screw it im paying $45 for a CTR boot. i am eventually going to get it anyways.

thats it im done.

I'm confused about this part...so you have an aftermarket knob right? and obviously the boot doesn't stay up...just to let you know...neither will the ctr one. You need to take a washer and put it on the shift like this:

Unless I'm mistaken about the piece you are talking about

Good choice on ctr boot. Its worth it.

My CTR boot stays up fine without a washer.

Yes, I can push it down, but the same thing has happened with any shift boot that's not attached to the knob.

Anyway, I used a washer for about a week, then tried going without it, and my CTR boot's been washerless ever since. The boot has a longer accordion section than the North American boot, so it sits noticeably higher than a non-attached USDM boot.

one thing you guys can do to prevent your boots from sliding... use a small hose clamp and tighten it around the shifter and this will prevent the boot from sliding. I'd show you a picture, but its in the shop right now because some shithead hit my car while trying to park his.

im probably going to get the CTR boot myself just so I can add to my JDM list. I don't plan on getting any more performance mods ever for this car anymore, I/H/E is good enough

I bought that clip from the acura dealer a couple of weeks ago. I painted it silver and it works great with my knock off type r shift knob. I think it looks good and better than paying $50.00 for that other boot. I think I'm gonna end up buying a skunk2 knob here soon though.

The stock USDM boot goes for $55 at hondaautomotiveparts.com -- which means that if I want to go back to stock, I'll have to spring for a new one since I irreversibly modified my original one to use my Type-R-ish shift knob.

In hindsight, I should've just waited to get the proper boot.

I wrapped a small section of the shifter in a little wire tape that tapers down from top to bottom. Works great!
