I really couldn't find a thread on this, but does this pedal assembly fit our EP? JDM Honda parts say they are for the DC5 Integra / RSX-R. And how much is the dealer gonna charge me for an install like this?

Shawn Hilliard had these in his EP so they fit. Not sure if you would want the dealer to do the install though, they will probably charge an arm and a leg.

Those are some sick pedals.

I installed the Sparco Grip pedals about two weeks go but they seem kinda flaky. Two of the rubber grips already popped out for no reason. I really wanna buy these but I'm trying to find a roundabout amount of what I'll have to pay for install.

Wouldnt this just be a DIY. How hard can pedals be to install?

I don't know. I don't have a clue what goes in to this. It seems easy enough, but I guess I need to grow bigger balls.

Will these fit on a left hand drive car? I'm just going by the picture above, but it looks like they are designed for a rhd car, if you put them in a lhd car will they fit in the footwell correctly? I hope so cause they look sick.

If you read above, Mugen ep said that Sean Hilliard had them in his si.

I saw that, but call me ignorant, I don't know who Sean Hilliard is so that didn't mean much to me. For all I know he has a full machine shop that can do modifications to make them fit, or he may drive a rhd car.

Sean Hillard owns JDMHondaParts and has that crazy white si with full JDM/Mugen everything.

Wont matter. Clutch pedal, gas, brake pedal's position is identical as lhd cars. Anyways, I love those pedals but i went with drill in pedals instead. Inhstallation sucked, I had to use my crappy cordless drill.

OK everybody loves Sean Hillard! Anyway, is this a ratchet and nut job? Wires? I'm confused.

Why not just get the Mugen pedals for the EP. You wont have to worry about any grip popping out and they are awesome pedals.

Here is a pic of my pedals:

EDIT: Imagestation sucks so refresh or try again later for pic.

Island Motorsports, 714-522-7457, contact Jimmy.

Dont quote me on price but I believe they were around $140. I bought them over a year ago so I cant be sure.

thanks, are they screw in?

EDIT: Your picture works, nevermind. They look great and will be cheaper than the ones from JDMhondaparts.

Mugen_EP

Yes, they are. There is a small lip at the bottom which reaches around the pedal. Then there is double sided tape to help hold it in place and then you add the screws at the top to finish it off. You can drill but it is not neccisary.

frentzenej11
01-06-2004, 02:35 PM
That makes sense for the brake and clutch, but how does the gas pedal install?

Mugen_EP
01-06-2004, 02:40 PM
If I remember correctly the gas pedal has two brackets and double sided tape which hold it in place but I cant be 100% sure. I'll take pics when I get home today, stuck at work for another 3 hrs.

Do you have to strip the OEM rubber from the pedals first?

beansbear
01-07-2004, 10:38 AM
I was going to do the DC5 set but didn't like the way they looked with the screws showing... i opted for a Toyota Celica GTS set...

http://hisurf.com/~scott/civicsir/int2.jpg

If I had to do it all over again i would get the DC5 set.

For the Mugen pedals yes. Also on the 03 Si's the rubber for the gas pedal is different. You need to drill into it because it can not be removed like the brake/clutch.

I wasnt able to find the DC5 pedals on JDMhondaparts.com, can someone let me know how much there charging for them?

frentzenej11

Hey Mugen_EP, how well do those Mugen pedals grip when your feet are wet? All other pedals I have tried slip like crazy.

Mugen_EP
01-07-2004, 12:09 PM
They are awesome. My feet do not slip AT ALL. I love these pedals.

Did you do the install yourself? If so is it terribly complicated or expensive?

beansbear
01-07-2004, 01:02 PM
To be honest its probably cheaper and easier to do the DC5 set, especially if it will mount up without any modification.

The Celica set needed to be fitted then welded in... not to mention shaped to fit the stock brake and clutch arms. The deadpedal was a totally different challenge but was completed with a dremel tool..

frentzenej11
01-07-2004, 02:58 PM
Thats the problem. Will the DC5 set bolt up with no modifications?

Mugen_EP
01-07-2004, 07:04 PM
You can see here that it is in fact a bracket on top and a bracket on bottom.

frentzenej11
01-07-2004, 07:19 PM
Nice Pic! The pedals don't slip at all huh? I think I may go that route then if I can't get an answer on the DC5 install.

Mugen_EP
01-07-2004, 07:20 PM
Yea, no slip at all. I love these. Well worth the $$ IMO.

frentzenej11
01-07-2004, 07:35 PM
I can't really tell from the pic, but the bracket just fit around the stock gas pedal without any problems, or did you have to do any modifications to the gas pedal?

Mugen_EP
01-07-2004, 07:46 PM
No mods needed, just remove the rubber piece and it fits perfectly around the pedal.

so you're saying for our 02 Si's the rubber of the gas pedal comes off easier. Finally a benefit for having the 02's

Id say just call up jdmhondaparts and ask. They would know.

Well, JDMhondaparts states that they are "unsure" if the DC5 pedal assembly fits on our EP3 chassis. Now I'm in a bind. I'm still considering the Mugens and also the Lokar pedal covers look somewhat intriguing. Hell, maybe go back to stock. Does anyone know if we can remove the rubber on the gas pedal?

beansbear
01-13-2004, 01:30 PM
the 03 models have a plastic accel pedal attached to the arm. go check if yours has the same.

Yeah, that what I meant. Is there a way to remove this plastic piece?

beansbear

remove the gas pedal arm assembly.

use a hammer and a small flathead like spike to push out the metal holder holding the plastic pedal in place. be careful when doing this.

this will totally remove the pedal.

not for the faint at heart.

frentzenej11

Thats no good. I am the faint of heart. Looks like the mugens are out of the question. Jeez.

To answer the question about the JDM pedals it looks like the break and clutch will work fine. However, when you look at the gas pedal the bar jutting out in the center needs to be reversed.

rjammd
01-23-2004, 08:10 AM
Here's the example of the bar in which I speak.
