Hey...I was washing my car this afternoon...
Here she is all open..

And I am looking through the hood...and suddenly I can see the ground! I thought there was supposed to be liner seperating the entire fender well from the engine bay? Maybe I'm wrong? This is how it is in my 99, I'm almost certain. So of course...I wanna know...
Both sides are the same. I can look into my fender well and see my engine compartment...I can look from my engine bay and see my spring and the ground. Somebody tell me this is normal. I'm probably over reacting, but you never know. Thanks guys!

I was freaked out...
Cuz I also saw like holes in there and I was like...is that where the liner is supposed to go? Anybody know why our car is like this?

Yeah, it's normal. I kind of freaked out the second day I had my car as I noticed the same thing....that's why our engine bay gets dirty so fast.

I think this is an 02 thing. My 03 has plastic all around. I will have to double check tommorow but I am positive you can't see thru.

I can see all the way thru to the other side. The first time i put it on a lift all the Techs were waving at me from the other side:D

I can't believe nobody wanted to claim this wasn't normal. Poor girl would have lost it thinking an enormous hole had formed from one side of the car to another. I guess ephatch people are just too helpful.

Does anybody know the advantage to this design? I know the RSX has it as well. I have my theories, but with no engineering background I really can't explain why that would help.

When I was buying the car this really worried me. I drive in Canadian winters and I was scared I would get snow+salt everywhere.

Mine is an 03...did you ever check yours? Ours should still be the same!?! Oh and about the drop and intake...staying stock (except for ctr sway) until i get a swap. :D
