Aight, I'm in upstate NY right now and we get pounded with snow pretty much everyday this time of year. I originally wanted to get a set of snow tires (Blizzak WS-50) but I've been putting it off and I"m not sure I want to anymore. For one thing, so far it's been OK running on the stock tires, even though they're not the best. Second, the roads are somewhat cleared of snow during the day, just not much so during the early morning or night.

I'm just curious to know how many of you actually have a set of snows or think it's necessary.

I thought about getting some, but its been really mild up untill a week or so ago. Besides the plows and the salters hit the roads really quick.

the stockies seem fine for me...

and I live on a hill..the only trouble I had was the first few days of adjusting back to winter driving where I had to be gentle with the accelerator :)

It snows here all the time! blech...

just take your time..and drive slower..and allow for more time when stopping etc.. you'll do fine....

I use snow tires with nails, it's a lot better than the stock ones but i'm already tired of the noise. Next winter i'm getting normal winter tires.
While we are talking about winter, anyone else thinks the stock battery might not be enough for cold starts (i'm thinking -30

I am still running stock tires during winter. Not much snow in WI this year.

Snow tires do help but in my opinion if you a re a halfway competent driver and have some acceleration control you will have no problem with stock tires.

Blizzak WS-50's on steel wheels here. Thank God! It's been one of the worst damn winters ever. The tires make a night and day difference in traction.
