215/40/17 would get you slightly closer to the factory wheel diameter and it's slightly wider than the 205/40/17. Go with the 215.

Hey no problem; welcome to the site.

No pictures here, I'm on stock rims and tires:cool:

I would say this is a better size 215/45-17. Welcome to the site, please read the stickys and enjoy. Also the search button is your friend.

Agreed. 215/45 gives you a little bit more sidewall. Either way you go you're gonna be off from factory spec by about .3 inches, not a big deal. I retract my previous statement and now say go with the 215/45. Sorry I didn't suggest them earlier, I didn't know that tire size was offered because I'm not too familiar with what's offered for 17" rims. (15" for me all the way)

The closest 17 inch size to the stock size is 205/45. A bunch of people on here run the 225/45. They have too much sidewall for my tastes, plus i like to be different. I'm running 215/40. Click on link in my sig for pics.

Consult this link to compare tire sizes:
http://www.1010tires.com/tiresizecalculator.asp

Stock = 195/60/15

205/45/17 = 0.21% larger
215/40/17 = 1.82% smaller
215/45/17 = 1.63% larger
225/40/17 = 0.54% smaller

Looks like those are pretty much the only acceptable combinations. 205/40 and 225/45 are both more than 3% off. This is not recommended.

Looks like 205/45 is your best choice.

215/45/17 and 225/40/17 sound good but I wonder if there'll be any problems with the sidewall rubbing if the car is lowered, guess it depends how low you drop it.
