just got back from honda dealer. they replaced my ebrake handle because the cheap chrome plastic peice was chipping. anyways. i looked at an 04 si outside and noticed something about the grill. it is painted! it is black and looks 10x better than the flat black grills in the 02-03 models. the painted grill from honda is like $55 US. this might be an alternative to the grillcraft $150 grill.

Cool. BTW, my e-brake handle is chipping as well. Someone at Honda didn't do their R&D work on that part.

Ooo, it would be so much easier to clean dried wax off of a smooth, painted grille than the flat plastic one we have!

it just so happens that i was at the Honda dealership this afternoon getting my last free oil change and snapped some pics of an 04 EP in the showroom. i didn't notice the grille, but from these pics, you can see a glossy shine from the camera's flash.

that's the lighting in the showroom. admittedly, the pic quality isn't the greatest, but at 300 dpi and zoomed in on the grille, you can tell it's painted.

ok, so this might make me look like some stupid ass but we did a meet a while ago in fairfax va. anyway, i think somehting that came up was how some grills looked nicer than others. well i was asked what year mine was and i said 03. well apairantly the 03 grill is blacker(might be different material or something) than 02. so it might just be that. well anyway just thought id throw that out there. maybe they changed it for 03+. anyway ill try to check out an 04 if i can, havnt seen one yet but ill try to check one out soemtime soon.

Yeah, they're replacing mine under warranty. It should be here this week along with a clutch pedal part replacement (for the creaking sound it makes).

I am going to be getting JDM red "H" for the front and rear. just one question for the people that already have the red "H". do you use the plastic piece that sticks out a bit to mount the red H on or do you mount it right onto the flat part of the grill like in my picture?

no. you dont use the plastic piece that mounts the factory H. u know, the one with the screws. there will be pins on the back of your red H and they will pop into two pin holes on ur grille, and will make it nice and even.

Maan, I wouldve loved honda to make that big ass H in the front like the Si on the side. I would liked to take the H off and leave the Si on the side like how Audi/VW does with thier VR6 GTI and S4 logos, but no, big flat blank spot. Anyone know if there is an aftermarket stock looking grill?
