View Full Version : Traction problems with FI
Hey guys what type of traction problems do you have with FI(SC/turbos)?
Hows the launch/when fully opened trottle?
Is the power to much for the traction problem?
After getting a SC or turbo do you wish you had saved/spend the money and got the other?
thanks :)

1) My 225/45/17 Azenis seem to keep me from spinning. :) But if they are cold or wet, Ill have traction problems in first gear.
2)You figure out how to keep from spinning, thats when your drving skills kick in;)
3)Im very happy with my turbo, but then again, I havent driven a SC'ed EP.

My 215/45 17 AVS 100s don't do a damn thing to hold my car down. Even in hot ass south FL. I can spin first, second, and third.
I'm already pricing a LSD out and will be stepping my wheel size down to 16 or 15" so I can get a meatier tire.
But it's a ton of fun for damn sure.

I don't know who else has what, but Quaife has one for just under $1k, and while it probably won't fix the problem entirely, it would probably help a lot.

They also have a "Phantom Grip LSD" that can be bought for $300, or the beefed up version is available through Cybernation for $350 plus shipping I believe. They upgraded the springs to hold 350 WHP.
It's the weird lil' thingy that goes inside your differential that makes it act like LSD. Just a thought... hope it helps!

absofreakinloutely NO traction in 1st, 2nd or third here.... but my tires are garbage... Lookin at anzeins possibly for spring in 225/45/17 unless a bette idea comes across my path...

If you unload wot, definitely traction is a problem. LSD is the next big thing. Not sure which yet though. Quaife is like $950. I've heard bad things about the phantom grip, although quite abit cheaper. Waiting to here if Cusco or is it "Kaaz"??(sp) comes out w/one for the EP. I definitely need one soon. Auto-x is almost here.

I'm going to give the Phantom Grip a whirl and see how it is. That plus better tires, and well tuned suspension should cure most of the traction issues. (The gearing doesn't help much either.)

I softened up my suspension(Tein/Flex) last week, and I now have traction problems in 1st and 2nd.
My point, suspension plays a big role in traction, just for those that didnt know.
