Ok dudes, after calling ClubRSX several times trying to get my Hondata order in I gave up. I kept getting an answering machine only. So I decided to drive down to Torrance and get the reflash because I WANT IT! It was an eight hour drive one way to Torrance but WELL WORTH THE TRIP. I started driving 10 pm last night and got there around 6 am. I had arranged to meet with Kevin from Prizm Performance in Torrance also, they are an AWESOME shop with lots of RSX and EP stuff. Since Hondata only deals with dealers I had to go through Prizm Performance to get my reflash. The reflash took 30 minutes and I was on my way home.

After the reflash, my first impressions were much better throttle response. Especially at part throttle, it didn't hesitate and just pulls. Low end torque is greatly increased. I lost some of my low-end torque due to installing my SRI, but I feel I've gained it all back plus some with Hondata. I can pull in 2nd at 1000 RPMs and the car doesn't hesitate, just picks up and goes like nothing. 5th gear passing power is greatly improved, I never had to downshift driving home passing big rigs. Just gave the gas pedal some throttle and the car picked up and moved quickly. I was VERY impressed. Mid-range around 3-5k pulls much harder than it did before, it revs a lot quicker.

Now, upper RPMs is totally daw dropping awesome. My motor screams soooo LOUD right between 6-7.5k, the intake gets twice as loud as it does normally at WOT for some reason. Probably has something to do with VTC phasing. The power does drop after 75-7700 RPMs on the tach, but it still pulls very good. Shifting at 8k on the tach drops the RPMs back right into the power band and the car just picks up and goes, no lag no nothing. In first gear, rolling at 2500 RPMs, I can punch the throttle and the tires will chirp and the car will just shoot to 8k on the tach and the motor scream so wonderfully with the SRI.

Hondata is worth every penny. On my way to Torrance I got 29-30 MPG and on the way back after the Hondata reflash, even though I rev'd my motor to 8k on the tach I still got 31 MPG. And I took it easy the last half after refilling again and I was really surprised to get 34 MPG, no joke. I'm very stoaked about the upgrade and highly recommend it. I will attach some cool videos tomorrow when I get time, now I need to go sleep, 16-17 hours of straight driving is tiring.

[Edit]
Ok here are two vids. This is my first time doing a video by myself and it's kinda shacky/choppy. Had to shift, hold the steering wheel and camera all at once. This first video I did a 2000 RPM rolling start, see how well the motor picks up at 2k. It never picked up that good before. Right click and save target as:

If you drive your car down to Prizm Performance, Prizm drives your car to Hondata. Then drives your car back within 30 minutes and you're set to go home. 4 hours ain't nothing, you should do it!

plainol2k2si, you can come try it...but you won't like your EP no more after you've tried it :p I'll get vids up tomorrow, too dark to take good vids right now. Can't sleep either. :'(

Running the rev hard kit and hondata is not a problem. Rocky from ShowStoppers is running that exact setup.

VIDEOS! I put two vids in the first post, check them out then go get Hondata :) The motor revs to 8k on the tach like it was made to, revs so naturally and keeps pulling. I love it :D

And also, depending on how fast you shift and all that (especially in the street world with average street drivers) 0-60 times will greatly be reduced because you don't have to shift into 3rd to get to 60 MPH. 2nd will roll to 62-64 MPH saving you the 3rd gear upshift. That will shave like almost half a second. Same goes for the 1/4-mile, you end it in 3rd not 4th saving you the 4th gear upshift. I bet low 15s isn't too hard to acheive with Hondata. With the right tires (slicks), the right track conditions and the right driver maybe even high 14s, but that's just a thought ;)

14.7 bone stock was achieved w/ slicks

Perhaps mid 14's? w/ hondata

Hard to say

I need to get a job asap but the first two paychecks will be saved for hondata...... part time paychecks arent big enough for me to get it in one so two will do... :)

Congrats, I never got into the 14's with Hondata. Came real close.( Even with all the mods I had at the time, however I was running on the stockies) Good luck and think high 14's are a definite prospect with the proper grip.

No problems getting into the 14's now though, with the stockies...;)

Those videos were taken with almost a full tank of gas. I'll take some vids with only 1/4 of gas left later this week. It revs much faster through each gear.

Friend of mine was running 15.1 or lower I think on 15x6.5 light rims on street tires with hondata, intake, and mid pipe.

I'm sure Azenis would make him break into 14's easy, and maybe hit 14.5's with a full catback and intake manifold gasket from hondata, or a header :D

Look at the fastest NA EP's on the Drag Strip thread. I am now number three but I ran the 15.1 with Injen CAI, Comptech header, and hondata. Since that run, I've done some mods and Greddy Turbo kit is in the mail again. For the record, the times without the header was a 15.2! Almost wish I never got the header now.

Low 15's possible with hondata? Easily.

Does disconnecting your negative battery terminal erase your reflash?

No...god hell no. That would mean I spent $595 to get it erased by removing the battery cable :) Hehe. The only way to erase the reflash if it was reflash with something else, and to do that you need a program, ECU connectors, vehicle immbolizer, and of course a scanner/computer to do the reflashment. ;)

Haha, dave I got my ecu back the same day as you and I absolutely love it. You guys have no idea what your missing, if you were sitting on the fence, get off and go get it. It made a night and day difference with driving the car, if you thought driving before was fun, just wait. Watching your tach past 8k is incredible. :D

My car turns so many heads right between 6-7.5k because the motor is incredibily rumply with the SRI. The first time I rev'd it up there with my window rolled down I nearly drooled all over myself :p

I've concluded there are only three bad things about Hondata.
1. You need 91 octane gas (Which I pump all the time anyway), but that shits like $2 a gallon when you're traveling especially in So. Cal :(

2. It cost $600. That's like rent plus money for food to survive on for a month. Or a couple car payments.

3. The motor screams so wonderfully you just can't stop revving the sucker to 8k, each gear shift puts you to the seat so good cause it drops right back into the powerband and just pulls ahead. It's bad for the motor, bad on gas, bad on the drivetrain, bad on tires...and bad for you when all that shit breaks or wears out :p And thats it, everything else is good.

Another negative thing - warranty is gone - not something i care about

cause I got no warranty!!! This is honda, not hyundai

Is the whole cars warranty null because of hondata or does it exclude everything but the motor? thanks

I am amazed... Did not you guys notice the speed still increased even at 7000 plus rpm? That makes me wonder if our peak hp @6400rpm, is it real or is higher?

The peak horsepower is bumped to 6700 RPM according to Hondata's dyno figures. And yes it does keep pulling. I am still very amazed at part throttle acceleration, and WOT it just plain out moves compared to before. Low end is so great, I love my EP the more I drive it now. I can't wait till Sac Speedway opens up in Feb...I wanna see how I do in the 1/4-mile.

Has anyone here done Hondata on a Stock Si? What kind of differences could be seen then? I just don't want to do the CAI right now.

www.hondata.com has dynos of an otherwise stock Si vs. a Hondata'd
Si, I believe.

taken from their website
10-12 Peak HP gain depending on the dyno and modifications
4-9 ft lb torque across the rev range
Power peak raised 400 rpm from 6300 rpm to 6700 rpm (higher with headers)
Rev limiter raised to 7700 rpm.
Fully dealer compatible - works with all Honda scan tools and equipment.
0-60 mph times improved by 1 second.
