If you have the money to afford it you cant go wrong with the STI, but maybe something more rare like a 300zx TT or a RX7, but i guess you want a new more reliable car..... well i guess a STi, or s GTI 20th Anniversary for looks...

G35 awd, 350z, RX8, FX45, Lexus SC whatever, SRT-4, Saab 2.0T, C230...lot's of non-EP choices.

those are such wide ranges in prices.. all of those cars on your list is a good trade for your ep.. you should have done that in the first place.. but yea.. sad to hear that you might let go of your EP. good luck on the outcome.

Scion tC? 160 hp; 162 ft.lbs; 2.4L. A contender?

Roll the RSX-S....go test drive one and you'll understand...

DavidT
01-15-2004, 06:31 PM
Scion tC would be a good contender...but the gay shit is it's using a Camry motor with a 6k redline. What fun would that be? I'd get another Ep or just get a RSX Type S. Anything not Honda isn't really worthy...when I buy a new vehicle I plan to keep it for a long time and so far only Hondas and Toyotas have lasted me a long time. All my GM vehicles had broken trannies by 100k, the only Ford I ever owned only lasted 70k before the engine went...never owned a Nissan but my parents have. They're ok I guess :)

Did you check insurance with those cars at all?
I say another ep.

Don't get a VW or an Audi. You'll kick yourself later if you do.

If you have enough $$ to drop on an STI or Evo why not get an S2000, or maybe even a used NSX. :D

If I were in your situation I would probably go with RSX-S. I <3 my ep, but why not try somethin new. 200hp + 6sp + girls like it.

Roll the EVO! Just watch out for high insurance rates.

I honestly can't tell if you're joking or not but if you were sitting next to me and told me you'd trade in an ep3 for an aztek for real I'd slap you! :D

Why the hell has nobody mentioned the TL yet? If you had to trade it in get the TL!!! At least stay within the Honda family. The Nissans are not a bad choice either. But why not just go with some luxury while your smoking everyone you know what I mean? Sounds like you have the cash so use it!

I was in the same situation a couple months ago after totaling my ep. If you can afford the sticker on an sti or evo and the increase in insurance than its an easy answer. If not, get yourself back into an ep. I did and I couldnt be happier. Yeah an RSX is faster, but thats about it; if you want the engine than do a swap. Being like everyone else is easy to do, doing what you want to do and being unique will make you happy.

well sonds like money is not an issue....if it were or you didn't want hella car payment....(i am probably the only one who will say it), but get DC2R......that's what i would get if i had to be under the 20k range, shit actually i would only get an STi other than that

i don't see how any the cars (minus the ep and mini) are even a comparable replacement... each one is at least 6 or 7 k more than the ep, and insurance rates will be pretty high compared to what you currently have... especially after you just had an accident and will be marked as 'high risk' for awhile. but hey, if you can afford the hike in payments on your car and insurance, more power to ya. here's what i'd get if i had to replace my ep (a little more 'comparable' to an ep :) :

-another ep
-used ITR or GS-R
-new mk4 gti 1.8t
-used 300zx
-used 3rd gen rx7
-used ek hatch
-used WRX
-a used type-s

or get the STI suby, they have fixed the tranny problems. Get something you could see yourself in 5 years from know...speaking of years..how old are you?

im 18...all you guys make alot of sense with the insurance...so ive narrowed it down to either another EP, Type S or mini S...but this is only IF i i decide to sell my car after its back from surgery and i dont like i any more....but who know...they might actually do a wonderful job

my parents bought a yellow aztek! I was really disappointed only in that I thought my mom had better taste. To their defence, they got a really really good deal and they like it, so good for them.

I'd try out the new saab, g35 awd, mini cooper s, even the srt4 for shits & giggles.

Cool thing about mini coopers is that are retaining value like a muthafucca. But you can't go wrong with a type S or another EP. Keep i mind man, I just saw on the news that Chicago is predicted to have $3 a gallon gas next summer. So something that takes 87 might be smart. Ohwell

Don't get another EP. Every true auto enthusiast must live by the motto "...life's too short to own the same car twice...". If we don't follow this motto, we risk becoming just like every other pedestrian driver.

pedzola

 If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Lets admit that an RSX is pretty damn near the same thing as an EP as far as driving would go - and there is nothing else from honda that is in the same price range.

If you <3 honda/acura and have had nothing but good experiences with their cars, why would you switch to another brand?

Theres more to consider than just "something different."

It's about brand image, experience, reliability, resale value, budget, and other expectations as much as it is about personal image and style and having to have the newest coolest thing, or just something "Different".

We could have all went out and bought an RX8 when they first came out, only to learn from Mazda a while later that it has 1/2 the power they said it did. Honda would never pull shit like that.

We could have all went out and bought a Focus the minute they arrived on American soil - truly believing that Fords engineering was getting better. We would have all been dissappointed by the 8 billion recalls and the unfathomable depreciation. If you buy a focus today for $15k it will be worth about 5 bucks tomorrow morning.

We could have all gone out and bought an Audi or VW w/quattro or whatever they call it, and then been pissed off when the car starts fallin apart and we find out that the AWD system isn't 1/100th as good as subarus.

We could have then traded the VW in for a Subie and then realized that we liked the feel of our Honda tranny a lot better.

We could have got an SUV and spent $100 on gas every week.

We could have spent tons more $$ And gotten an exotic sports car....
then we'd be in serious debt and be afraid to drive our cars anywhere they might get dirty.

I could go on and on. I'm not saying that all Honda/Acura are superior to all other cars. I'm saying that if you know you like a particular vehicle, why not have a little brand loyalty and at least stick in the same family, if not the exact same car.

Why buy something completely different just for the sake of having something different?

Flame away. :D

from the list provided it looks like you wanna sporty car. if you can afford it, the STI with-out a doubt. if you test drive that car you would have no need for this list at all. if i had the money i would have a white one.....:(

HECK NO!

Unless he's mechanically inclined (more importantly, inclined to deal with a rotary motor), has a whole lotta cash, has a whole lotta time, he shouldn't be getting an FD. Those suckers are fast and great looking but so unreliable you wouldn't believe it. I know some people have gotten them to be decent when it comes to reliablility but that's mainly because they have financial backing AND can fix things and work on rotaries themselves. No offense, but I doubt an 18 year old would be able to pull that off unless he/she has deep pockets.
