My bro purchased a JDM ITR LSD but it did not come with the small gear pictured below. Can anyone please tell me what it is? & if he needs it.

Thanks in advance.

I don't know Tony? Did you try looking for it on online Honda parts microfilm?

It looks kinda like a speedo gear. If the final drive ratio is changed dramatically, you would need this to make your speedo read correctly. It will ride in the diff housing and be turned by the diff. On older Honda's these gears turned the speedo cable or the sensor. I havent looked to see if ours is sensor to gauge direct or if the ECU does all the work.

If the only thing different between the diffs is the LSD then you wouldnt need a new gear. Make sure the gear ratio is the same.

Yeah that looks like the speedo gear. We have the same ratio as the Type R, 4.764 or something like that ;)

It is the speedo gear! Thanks guys. Turns out the Type-S and Type-R speedo gears are the same though so he doesn't need it.

Thanks again!;)
