View Full Version : Vendor reviews

Methinks we should probably start a "Vendor Reviews" forum. I know
we have it for private sales, but a review of vendors would be
handy, especially as the site grows. No more "Which vendors are
good?" threads, hopefully.

Anyway, I really used that as an excuse to say a big Thank You to
wiredspeed.com (specifically, Kyle@Wired Speedlab). They are one of
our newest vendors and I had dealt with them via honda-tech and
were very professional.
I recently ordered Hondata through them and wanted to send it
Wednesday, so I would have it back today. Well, around noon today I
emailed Hondata (b/c they handle return shipping, I needed to get
a tracking number from them) - turns out they were sending it back
to Wired Speedlab and not to me. That ain't good.
Before I completely panicked, I used wiredspeed.com's online help
service. Within a minute or two, I was talking with Kyle and he
helped track down what went wrong. He told me he would get it to
me tomorrow, sent via USPS mail, so I could have it Saturday. This
was despite the fact that the FedEx guy had tried to deliver to
them once and missed (and would have come back Monday the 26th! Ugh).
Granted, the USPS could still lose it (God I hope not), but so
far, wiredspeed.com has been a class act and turned an ugly situation
(with the chance to get even worse) into a mild one. I can do
without my car tonight, I've been bumming rides anyway.

So anyway, I would highly recommend not only purchasing Hondata
from them (if you go that route - they are cheaper than most vendors
as well) but other products as well.

Cliff notes: Hondata ships my ECU to the wrong place, Wiredspeed.com
makes it write, without a loss of too much downtime.

Also, lots of love for our other vendors out there, especially
Showstoppers, who is the most EP-oriented vendor I know of. Thanks!

Thats too bad Andy about the mishap. Its nice to hear about the good companies out there after reading about all the bad ones though. Glad everythings gonna turn out all right. By the way im expecting a nice review once you have the chance. ;)

Off topic I got the sim today and ran a test with the scan tool. Seems to be doing the job, before the 1st sensor read constant at .63xV-.64xV and the 2nd one varied greatly from about .32xV-.85xV in a up and down consistant pattern. With the sim, the second one only varies from .32xV-.64xV. Drove it for a while today and didnt get any pending codes. Could you do me a favor when you install yours and check the LED indicator? Mine flashes in a blink, blink, pause cycle with a 1 second total cycle duration, just want to see if thats normal. Thanks bro.

I've had 2 transactions with wiredspeedlab and they were awesome!! Definitely the best online performance vendor that I've dealt with.

Showstoppers has great prices and a huge selection of EP3 parts but their customer service is lacking IMO.

Phil, I'll be givin u a call later tonight about the 02Sim, got a few Q's.

Yeah, I was just glad I'll get it tomorrow and not next week, really.
But there's a lot of vendors who wouldn't have done that (or would
have charged me, or wouldn't have answered the phone, etc).
And I'll definitely have a full review tomorrow. :)

Interesting, good to hear the primary seems okay. Did you have to
clear the old code or did it just go away after putting on the
sim?
I'll double check the LED as well.

Anj, actually if your able to it would be better if you could call sometime during the day tomorrow. Already started pregamin.:)

Andy, definately need to reset your ecu. After a certain amount of time it stores the code, it could be when the car starts to run in open loop mode, who knows though, just a thought.

The ECU had been out so long that of course the CEL was gone, but so
far, it hasn't come back on. Also, the simulator beeped in the
same pattern as yours (two quick flashes, then a one second cycle
before the next set of flashes).

This thread is way off topic now, but that's why we need a forum
for this. ;) Anyway, um, Hondata's reflash is pretty cool.
