how do i remove the shift boot?

i want to remove the shift boot... so i can put that washer on there in order to keep it up to my fake type r shift knob i just got. ive searched and there are plenty of ways to keep the knob up... but it doesnt say how to get the washer under there... maybe im just dumb. please help.

Pull the whole lower plastic panel out (carefully!). Which stays attached to the boot. Sorry busy at work right now can't explain.

Remove the shift knob
Push 1-2 fingers inside the boot (at 5 & 7 o'clock)
Gently Pull, gently
The bottom portion should be popped out
Run your fingers on the side and move up.
The thing should pop out

thank you so much raiyo... im gonna go try that now... cant wait to get this knob on looking good! i love the look of our stock boot when it butts up to a shift knob like that... short and stocky... maybe its just me. thanks again.
