Found a dealer with a supply (11) of NEW 2002 Civic Sis (I finally figured out why they're called EPs).

Called them up & asked what they wanted for one.

Their offer, out of the box, was $15K (actually $14,995). I thought I might have to beat them down to that level, but no, that's their first offer, fercryingoutloud. All I can say is that Honda (and that dealer) must have screwed up badly to have this many new 2002s sitting around.

So, is this a good deal? I figure if that's what they offer there's room to go lower, though I might take the $15K price if they throw in larger wheels. Was there a 2002 option for larger wheels?

I have an 89Si now, but it's getting to the point where I need to move on. It has only 90K miles on it, but it's got a few problems and I don't have the time to baby it (I respect what you all are doing with the tuning and stuff, and the Si rocks, but I don't have the time and I'm looking for basic, reliable---but zippy---transportation).

Feedback appreciated.

i bet they will come off of that price but if not i think it is still an ok price. 2002 only came w/ 15 inch rims. you will love the ep, ive had mine for over a year and still love mine ;) .

Good price but with 11 in stock I bet you could negotiate a better deal. Do any of them include the side airbags, I think that was the only factory option. Does Honda still have 0% or 1.9% financing? If so the deal just became sweeter. Good luck, I love my EP3.

Wow they stocked up...i dont think have ever seen more than 3 at my local dealer at once. They should come down off the price!

Brand new 02's, hmmm... Did you check how many miles are on them? Work them down to 13,000 something (if the miles are under 500 miles). Be firm and don't take any bull. Walk out if you have to, they will call you back :)

hell yeah man, if its brand new and an 02, snag it. Edmunds lists such a vehicle for about 16k. try to get it fo 15 out the door!

You can get new 03s still by me for that price, however I still think that that is a good price. See if any of them have Side Airbags, have them throw in floor mats, cd changer, fog lights...

No, 15" wheels were the only factory wheels from Honda for our cars. You'd end up having to go aftermarket if you wanted a larger wheel.

Oh, don't worry, I have yet to even start negotiating.

Apart from anything else, if I buy it will be for cash. Plus, I've seen enough reports of new 2003 Si purchases for around $15K that I know there's a lot more room to go on a new 2002 Si.

I think the number has to be something like $13,xxx. Plus a lot of extra toys thrown in for nothing (mats, etc).

You could get high low 14 for that car. Don't settle for 15.

ESPECIALLY if you got cash. Just let them know, it can be sold right then and there...walk away if you have to...They will call you up a few days later if you walk away.

I'd do $15,000 for the car with all the shit thrown in(Wheels, Mats, Foglights, etc) If not I'd do $14,200 without anything. I paid $15,200 for mine 02'(10 miles) at the end of 02'. It's not a bad price but they should be motivated to do better. That many 02's is rare though..... Maybe that is one of Honda's Higher volume stores, so they just sent all the remaining ones there??? Oh well, hopefully you'll be part of the family soon.

Nope, since it's 2004, that's not a good price EVEN if they only had one. Have them throw in all the extras and come down the price a little bit and then you've got something good.

Since I just paid $15k for a used '02 with 15K on the odometer, I'd say it's okay.
Call me a sucker, I wanted it, and the seller wasn't coming down based on the fact the Blue Book is at ~$16K and some....

It's all about information. I've spent w-a-a-a-a-y too long researching this, going through dealer inventory lists on-line.

Amazing what you find in those lists. How about a NEW 2002 S2000? What would you bid on that? I might be interested, but I don't like convertibles. Autotrader, EbayMotors, Edmunds, etc. If you've got a web connection but not much cash, spending a few weeks (an hour or so a day) going through all this stuff is essential.

Thanks to everyone for their comments. Appreciate each and every one of them. If I get a good deal I will post the details here, including the name of the dealer and who to talk to---perhaps someone else might want one.

just got my '02 two weeks ago for $14,325--10,800 miles on it. They paid off my truck (we added $2500 estimate left on it, but I actually owed a bit more, but they "took care of it" :)) I didn't even think to ask for fog lights, but I still feel I did well, the sticker was almost $17K.

I just paid 14850, one week ago, for a '03 with 4000 miles, 17 inch rims, and tinted windows.

I payed about $15,500 for my 02 and got it new back in March. So I would say pay no more then 14,500 for yours. I would say shoot for $14,000 and leave if they do not come close.
