That is complete bullshit. the only reason it limits power is because the ECU is programmed with the stock cams in mind. If someone took the time to re map the ECU for the Toda cams I'm sure you could find some more ponies in the lower RPM range. Since these cams are primarily made for racing and high RPM power, nobody in their right mind would go to this trouble.

the future is here.

Hmmm.... some of the top Honda drag race cars run VTEC engines with the VTEC system totally disabled and locked into one mode or the other... JoeB16, you'd better run out and lock your VTEC pins onto the high lobes... oh wait, that ruin driveablity.... those Toda cams for the K series are RACE parts, not street parts.

Trust me, once tuners crack the K series ECU and can start messing with the VTC, it's gonna be sweet. Even as is, it's nice having a Civic where you can push the gas at 3000 rpm in 5th, and get good acceleration. Try that in a near stock B16A and all you get is some interesting mechanical noises and a whole lot of nothing. I'll be keeping the VTC enabled, thank you.

hey not true, the b16's 14 /bft of torque at 8000 rpm can be felt, well kinda. either that or the mice in the engine are restless cus of all that high rpm noise. Couldnt be cus of the torque
