Hello,
My friend just got new cams installed into his Type S and now his stock cams are just lying around. We have been trying to figure out of we can take out my cams from my ep3 and throw his in. Has anyone tried this or believe that it is possible? On the "B" series engines it was possible to swap cams. On the K series engines, we are not too sure yet... will I require the head as well?

Thanks for any feedback.

The thread with all the great info was deleted.

It wont work because the ep uses a 2 rocker vtec system when the type s uses a 3 rocker vtec system. So you would need the whole head.

The Type-s Cams will not work on the A3 Ep3. The actual Cam will fit but it wont line up with the Rocker Arms Correctly.

If I where to change the rocker system over would the cames work then? Is it possible to do that? I have been wondering about this.

You need all the A2 head internals (rockers etc.) to make the cams work.
Why has no one done this yet you ask.
Because the A2 head incorporates lost motion springs, which the A3 head casting does not accomidate.
The lost motion springs hold up the center rocker when vtec is not engaged. Without the springs to hold it up, the center rocker can fall down too far for the pin to engage it when vtec tries to lock them together with the outer rockers

So any idea what the possible cost of this would be?

Unless you get hooked up I'm willing to bet that an A2 swap would make more sense.

could we just switch the rockers and the cams together...I know it wont flow AS much air, but still!:D

I think i might do that if it works! I would get the Type-R cams, for higher duration!
