My friend does not have a job right now, but his parents are extreme cool... They gave him two choices, first is rsx-type-s, or civic si with $2,500 in cash... with the money, he wants to do the follow mods:
hondata ecu $575, hondata gasket $55, custom cat-back with rs sport muffler $250, injen short ram $150, dc stainless steel headers $350, tein springs $150, ctr sway bar $115, 16" rota grip with falken azenis tire and wheel package from pitcrew for $750, spoon shift knob $45, stickers and signs $60, sparco paddles $40, and $140 left...
So what do you guys? my choice is the EP3...

If I were your friend, I would keep take the SI and take the $2500. Save the money, he still have a long way to go.

I learnt my lesson and I will never spend my money, if I do not have any savings. :( Sorry ... just a thought. Either RSX or EP is a good choice.

i have many friends with type-s and are unhappy because their cars are so heavy (dont see why with real ivtec and six speed and all)... i think anybody will be happier with ep3 than dc5

I'd go for the RSX, the EP3 is nice and all, but even with those mods he'd still want more (ie: motor swap or boost). You also mentioned that he does not have a job, which is another reason I support the RSX, the EP3 is one of those cars that needs money to make good...a lot more than $2500 :(

Or as C1V1C said, he should get the EP3, pocket the money and put some miles on the A3 then do a swap.

he is getting the 2004 white ep3 tomorrow after school, what a lucky guy... i am pretty sure that he will do more mods than listed because if he gets into USC, his parents will give him 2 more g. And he has a 4.0 in san marino, and got 1350 for his SAT... he is getting it for sure... so now he is even planning to a C/F hood, trunk, mugen replica wing, replica jdm side skirt... it will be all done by the beginning of this summer, than i will use his camera and post some pics...:)

As much as I love my EP3, if my parents had given me that option, I sure as hell would have gone RSX-S...so fast :)

Each sticker gains you 5 hp. If i had that choice. I'd get the RSX-S. Screw it! Take the money and get ya a Skittle! Most bang for the buck!

Isn't the RSX only 1 pound heavier than our cars? Honestly, I love my car, but I would have to say RSX.

Yeah the difference between the RSX and EP is far more than $2500. Id take the type S. Actually Id take the best of both worlds and buy Ports car. :)

Well if I was getting the options he's getting I would opt for Port's car.

Anyway, I like the EP3 better because they are not as common, you see RSX all over the damn place. I like the EP3 better because I can fit more people and it's more confortable in the back.

Every time my parents come in my car they compliment on how big it's on the inside. "Tan chico por fuera, tan grande por dentro" That's what they say. So small in the out side so big in the inside.

civic si with hondata and the gasket can already take a type-s... sorry guys, type-s with no money to mod is just not that fast... the stock tires are pretty bad, and you do not have money to upgrade them, than what is the point... the ep3 with mods will look much better than the stock type-s... and with the ctr sway bar the ep3 can kill the type-s at the corner too... he already got the car... honda power... not acura (american honda power)...

type s no doubt... i love the ep but :)

Well seeing as how you posted this on ephatch, you don't have to convince us that an EP3 is a great car, and we all love ours. However, our car + hondata sure won't beat a Type-S lol.

When people ask me what I drive, I tell them it's a British-made sports car. person:"Really? What kind?" me:"It's a civic." person:"uh...ok." yeah, i'm weird like that.

Go for the Civic Si.

I would say get an EP, ONLY if your friend plans to keep the car for sometime. The resale vaule of our car is like shit compare to what dealer is charging us. Your friend is going to take a dive if he or she sells it after a year or two. Lots of us went bye bye cuz they couldn't hold there heart to the Si.

Get the EP with 2500 cash. Use 1k to drop the ride, buy new tires, but keep the rims. Change the sway and get some bars in. I perfer safty over speed.

weight is'nt the issue our cars are only like a pound heavier.
I personally like the styling of the ep better, but I would love to have the type s engine.
