My uncle is a great welder, and I am going to make rails for my eg to ep3 seats on them. Well, I am going to make the seats sit as low as I can. It will only take minor modification to make them fit the ep3. I just want to take a poll and see who would like them and how much would you think is a resonable price? They will be adjustable too.

Ok, they will slide. I will make sure all the welds are strong.

I was actually thinking about that whilst driving along earlier today. "I wonder if anybody else wishes the seating position weren't quite so upright..." So, uh...ballpark figure?

There's probably a good amount of interest in these, provided the
seat still moves. I know we've got several tall guys on this board
and even though I'm not that tall, just an 1" or so lower would help.

I would be so.... interested if you offered this when I first got my EP. Now.... I'm alright with the height. Got use to it I guess. After sitting in my slammed Del Slow, the EP felt like a van, heheh.

I'm absolutely interested. There was a couple threads about this last year because some of us that auto-x were having trouble fitting our fat-helmetted heads comfortably in the EP. They would definitely be beneficial if good quality.

Raiyo, has got that right! The delSol is great, you're sitting on the ground, on the highway you're at eyelevel w/18 wheeler tires. I miss that seating position...

Anyway, I would defently buy a set if they were available, keep us updated.

How much lower we talking? I need to see over the dash board, but I also need to grab the wheel, and not have my head sideways.
[Edit]
And my knees can't go through the dash.

Uh don't know on price at the moment. It all depends on cost of materials, time to design, and trouble of building. If I can get a rough price from you guys to what it will be worth, that would be cool.

Also, to whom ever is interested, I will take a tally of names at the top of this page. Thanks to all for the interest.

Lower seat rails were brought up about 8 months ago, and a couple times since then. Nobody follows through. You will make a killing if these are top notch quality for good price. :yellm:

how does this sound like for a good test......

bolt them down to a huge sheet of steel, park a chevy silverado on the sheet, then tie the rails to the tow hook and try to tug on the seat rail??

This could test and see how much force it will take to break the welds.

I am kinda excited. I really want these rails. :D

BTW, when I do get a final design made, I will be having az02si test these out at a autox track. I will keep everybody updated on my progress.

Also, I have 2 sets of SI seats, so I will deffintly be able to tell the difference before and after.

Ok, after some pain and heart ache I found out that the seat rail mod is going to be a lot harder than I thought. There may have to be some cutting......

Honda engineers seemed to leave no room for modification without recreating the same exact parts they put on the seat except with the side metal bracket supports being 1 - 1.5 inches shorter. Honda welded and rivited almost every bolt and connection on the seat. So far, we were only able to take off 4 bolts without hurting the seat.

I was looking at the helms manual, and it gave like an exploded veiw of what I would be expecting.

If anybody has any ideas that can help me out, please feel free to post. I will probably endup removing almost the whole bottem section and making my own......but making supports and the custom rails/sliders will take some imagination.

I will post pics once I get a hold of a digicam.
