well i think everyone else is hitting 100mph as well. i also believe that my speedo is off by about 2mph. who knows, but the needle says like 102 in third so thats my story and i'm stickin to it :)

i am hitting about a 100 on third too. at about 8100s rpm... it is very dangerous, i only had done it once...

anja. what RPM are you going thru the traps at? and what rpms do you shift at when racing 1/4 mile?

anjapower
02-18-2004, 08:39 PM
I hit the revlimiter usually right at the end of the traps...meaning i either ride out the revlimiter and don't shift or shift to 4th at the very last second before crossing the traps. I shift at right about 8k on the tach. I know you can go a little past it...but the motor doesn't sound that great at 8k in 3rd gear for some reason, like its being stressed. Not to mention that it doesn't make any power up there anyway.

Same here.

100 in 3rd seems kinda high.

I'm jealous, I want one.

haven't you guys seen the pics of other peoples tachs at 8k and 100? i will try and get some pics up soon. but if it ain't 100(like i said i think my speedo is about 2mph off) it's like 98-99. what is your trap speeds? i am trapping 92 b4 i had hondata. when i go to the track next time i am going to run a few different ways. takin it to 8k every time, and shifting where i used to shift b4 hondata. just to see if it makes a difference. maybe my car is a freak, cause i went faster than most people did when i didn't have hondata. we will see what hondata does to my times. i need some drag radials damnit.

gearing wise, hondata will top out third gear at roughly 92mph. calculate it if you want.

ep3guy

I trapped at 91 mph topped out third gear at the drag strip.

some one should post a vid of a i/h/e/hondata ep vs a i/h/e EP from a roll to show the real difference

Tell us how to calculate that please.

Black 02 SI
02-19-2004, 03:50 AM
yeah i'd like to see some calculations of that myself. here's my equation.

eyes looking down + 3rd gear at 8k rpm = needle on speedo at 102 mph

therefore

top speed = 102 mph - 2 mph off speedo

top speed = about 100 mph

;) let's see if yours is any better, and if your car only goes to 92 in third i'd give hondata a call.

ep3guy
02-19-2004, 03:55 AM
Maybe it's not as accurate. The track records me at 91-92, maybe thats right before I hit the rev limiter for another 8mph. I remember when looking down it was close to 100mph though.

Also, I don't need to give them a call, my car was one of the first cars to have the EP3 hondata flash. My car was one of the two cars that the the tune was created on.

Thanks Doug.

i wasn't sayin it directly at you. and i wasn't trying to be an ass, just jokin around :) all i know is my car def goes over 92 in third, it goes close to 100 i know its off a few, but i know its not off 8. i can't wait to see if i can go better than 14.8 now with the hondata. i think my tach is more acurate now cause before it would indicate 7500 b4 rev kicked in. the track will see :)

mph = (rpm * cir) / (gear * final * 88)

where rpm = engine rpm (6800, 7700)
cir = tire cicumference, in feet (24.2 inches/12 = 2.1 ft)
gear = gear ratio (1.769)
final = final drive ratio (4.764)
88 = combines several conversion factors

From what I remember, I can do about 83ish in 3rd with the stock redline and about 94ish w/ Hondata. Using this calculator it says we can do 85 in 3rd with stock redline and 96 with hondata. Perhaps Dave is right. Our speedos maybe a little different. Maybe you have different size tires on your wheels? That could possibly throw it off depending on the size.

Black 02 SI
02-19-2004, 07:02 AM
96-97 sounds about right i'd say. like i said i know when i went through the traps before my speedo read 95 and i trapped 92. all i know is it reads around 100. think they could've made my tach read more accurate by flashin it? oh and i have the stock size tires on my car now so that's not what is changing my speed reading.

anjapower
02-19-2004, 07:05 AM
Hmm interesting...if you have stock tires, the only thing that I can think of is slightly different speedo readings. I know I'm basically at 100 at the 3-4 shift, but not quite there in 3rd. About that calculator though...I don't even think I do 85 in 3rd with the stock redline, so maybe the calculator is off a little? Don't know...

Damn, all you freaks with your hondata flashes are making me jealous... I want a higher redline (hold the bent valves, please)!

Congrats on your aquisition, Dave - I wanna ride :)

The one think I miss now with my car is revving real high - and now you all can go higher than that even!

get to the track. I have my doubts about your 17" wheels. good luck, nevertheless.

Elevation could make a huge diff 2! when I live on the east cost my SiR had way more power now I'm in the paries its not got as much a noticable diff though, but I don't really mind all I'v got the only EP in town, and who do you think turns all the ladies heads??? well its not me its my fine fine black SiR( there are no hoda or acura dealers in town)Its great there are like 8 or 9 RSX and one EP LOL

wow, 14.8 with the mods listed? that's hard to believe, unless u took out aLOT of weight esp with ur 17" like dunrick suggested. or u were on slicks. also cuz the rev models are super duper heavy.

Are those Rev brand wheels, or are they the Rev models from Velox?

Just wondering cause the Velox Rev wheels weigh around 11.5 to 12.5 lbs a piece.

i ran the 14.8 with i/h/e on stock rims and stock tires. actually the wheels i have are made by rev they are the model 10's. i weighed the rev wheel and tire and it was 7 pounds lighter than stock rim and tire. i dunno how you think that is heavy? that was with full interior only thing i took out was my 12'' sub. with hondata and drag radials i hope to be fairly lower than that. it's all about the launch :) and gotta love the power the magnaflow makes top end i trapped at 92 mph :)

the rev wheels arent that heavy. they are considerably lighter than stock and are the lightest 17s ive personally seen.
