Well video clips and pictures of this exhaust are rare as hell on the internet, i bought both without ever really hearing/seeing the pieces in person. i installed yesterday morning, after i was finished i was pretty impressed by the power gain/sound/throttle response.

The only problem I really had was the bpipe -> axle back flanges. The t1r came with a gasket for the cat -> bpipe but no bpipe -> axle back. This was a problem because after install there was a huge leak and whined at WOT. I then drove to the nearest auto part store and bought a sheet of this thermal weird exhaust gasket material that comes in a paper sized sheet. It runs about $9.95 per sheet and you are to cut your own gasket out according to your own specs (since us ep3 guys don't have a stock gasket back there it's useless to try to consult honda technicians). Anyway after fitting it on the bpipe and re installing the exhaust the desired results were met, and the exhaust sounds really nice, i'm pretty impressed. Fitmet is good, doens't hang too low, and have nothing but good things to say about it so far. Anyway on to the pictures.

Spoon n1 (note the black shit that won't come off)

The money shot. Bpipe meets Axle back. New best friends =) Also if you can see the beige excess on the sides thats the DIY gasket :p Pretty shitty cutting job but it works.

Spoon n1 exhaust/sway bar clearance. Not too shabby. Rear progress bar is on its way! New pics once installed

i'm pretty impressed with it so far  though i haven't installed it yet. i don't expect to be disappointed though ;)

here's the car it's on (lord knows it needs it):

Here's the video: spoon n1 exhaust rev (http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/wetoddimage.wtdr/i=wMjg0MzI4NnM0MTNkZmQzMXk1NDE%3D)-- listen for the ice cream man, and peep my dog running to the back :)

Hope this answers any questions about the exhaust. Tell me what ya think! (don't say its not worth the money, i really don't care! thanks) Enjoy.

cool dude. good luck! also so you don't make the same mistake as me, make sure you have two nuts for the connecting bolt from t1r to the axle back exhaust. the stock bpipe has nuts welded to the flange but t1r is bare w/no nuts on the reverse tapping side. make sure you get something with some heat resistance (i just went in to a hardware store and said i need exhaust nuts for 02 civic) and they gave me two bronze colorish ones for about 94 cents as they are not included with the pipe.

Thankyou John for the heads up on the nuts required !!!

Great post . I think you helped to make up alot of minds or put some at rest .

The build quality looks great and install appears to fit like a glove .

Where is my spoon n1 exhaust ? I need to hold it and polish it up . I have had it since October , goes on in 1 month - with the bpipe !

What is sound from the inside like, is it too loud? Does it drown out radio at high revs? Does it sound ricey? Can you make the bpipe work with stock muffler?

Yes, I am using it with the stock muffler.
The tone from the midpipe is really nice.
It's a little bit louder then stock, but not much.

well no it doesn't sound ricey. often the sound that signifies "ricey" is the exhaust not resonating or muffling properly. i can assure you the exhaust is perfectly tuned with loudness, performance, and every day drivability. as for the radio, no it doesn't. no problem with talkin while in cabin either. from what i've experienced with the exhaust there are ways to make it quiet while you're driving because at certain rpm's the sound almost goes away. freeway isn't bad at all. steady 80mph at about 4400-5500 isn't droning much but definately louder than stock. if you're getting an exhaust that isn't stock u can pretty much expect to hear it :D

yep yep...its only loud when you get on it but onc it reaches a certain rpm is quiets down..definetly not as loud as most of you would think.

Fixed the link for ya ;) That car sounded cool from the front cause you could hear the intake, but once it passed the camera it sounded like crap to me cause all you could hear was the fart can. Damn 4-bangers, oh well.

Yes... I find it a bit to loud for me personally but the fit and power is pure perfection. If I was at the track a lot I would want this unit.:D

yeah that's true. the t1r makes the n1 considerably louder but u can tell the car is breathing really well. if you think that's loud, i hauled my ass to the hardware store w/out a muffler on w/just the cat to bpipe because i didn't know that i needed 2 nuts to connect the exhaust to the bpipe so it was funny getting on it without anything there, definately bumble bee status w/out a muffler :) but pure smooth like butter w/the n1 on there.

Do you think I'll get used to it? I do love the throttle response and it purrs like a kitten at the higher rpms!!!:D

yeah dude... i mean, its a little louder than w/just the n1 on.. its worth the power. its definately not a bad investment, you already paid for it, felt the gains, love the purr... i really don't see why u want to sell it. and man the thing flows like crazy. if you've ever let somebody else rev it while u feel the air coming out... shit! :) i couldn't be happier with mine, certainly bling factor, not everyone has it.. its just my opinion though, i love it. if you plan on tuning your car further you'll need more flow than the stock "pencil dick" size pipe.. might as well keep waht u got :D

You might be right... I can't believe how great it fits. I'm actually very impressed I just thought it would be nice if it was a little more quiet. I could try the N1 silencer but I didn't want to lose any power. Fuel mileage is way better with the T1R too.

what's the diameter on the type one midpipe? and it's resonated right?

972BlackSi
03-28-2004, 09:22 PM
basically 60mm. the outer diameter is 63mm but if the pipe is 1mm thick on each side then that is 60mm inner pipe diameter. sorry to confuse you. and yeah, it's resonated.

i'de record one but my bolt that screws into the silencer broke off so i really don't have a silencer any more ;)

silencer sounds like garbage with the bpipe anyways
