Honda's had a problem with the stock struts on 2001+ civics including the EP. I believe my struts were replaced with the latest Version 3 of the new struts(Not sure of the part number but it does have a v1/v2/v3 in it). A friend of mine has had his replaced twice. The first set being the v2's and the latest are the v3's. We have seen no problems since the v3's have been installed.
What I'm wondering is if people are replacing their stock springs with aftermarket springs such as Eibach Sportlines / Progress / H&R etc.. and a year or so down the road their struts go bad but it's not really due so much to the aftermarket springs but the defective v1 & v2 struts?
Anyone have more information on this?
