Has anyone re-wired their sidemarkers so that they stay lit when the parking lights and/or headlights are on and blink when the blinkers are used?

I was wanting to do this if it's not too difficult. Only problem is that I know nothing about the electical wiring of this vehicle.

Anyone have a DIY link or tutorial or experience doing this tot heir EP?

Thanks.

it can be done but you're looking at some sort of relayed set up.

How do you mean? Anything (link) I can look at that might be useful?

Hmmm....personally, I'd try a post over on sounddomain.com. THere are some great electronics techs that have helped me there in the past. I honestly am unsure on the wiring diagram involved.

Aight, thanks oogy. I'll try over there.

Run wire to your battery (+) and leave the rest the same. How's that
for a technical post, suckah! ;)

I think you'd need to relay it to the parking lights (i.e. parking
light hot wire to relay, relay to sidemarker). The only comparable
thing I'm familiar with is on the WRX, they had side lights that
would stay on like parking lights (sort of like our front/rear
bumper lights) and some people wanted those to blink.
Actually, come to think of it, couldn't we just splice the front/rear
bumper lights to the sidemarkers?

Do the bumper lights blink when using a turn signal? I don't think so. I think they stay light all the time. I think it's just the side marker and the blinker bulb in the headlight housing that blink. So to have the sidemarkers stay on all the time and blink when a blinker is used would require splicing two places? Ok, im confusing myself.

Think anyone at the West Palm DIY day could help? I would drive down there if Steve will allow one more car. If not, I'll just wait and ride with you Andy.

did any one try this and see if it worked??

there is another post on this, but here it is...
to have the light stay on and blink, there usually is a need for the bulb to have dual filaments like our turn signal lights or brake/parking lights, and the sidmarker along with the bumper lights (which only stay on) have only one... for us to make this single filament to stay on and blink, we will need a relay switch to get signal from both wires... almost like putting in a resistor to make your blinker faster, only different...
