I have been trying to get a solid definition of what one piece forged wheels are. Can someone explain?

What are the advantages and disadvantages of one piece forged wheels compared to regular wheels?

What's a good brand to get?

How much do they usually cost?

Thanks

super light, super strong.

VOLK, WORK, SPOON, MUGEN, pretty much any JDM name brand.

they will cost a grip.. even for 15s. roughly $400-450 just for some 15s.. this is retail of course.

forging is the forming of wheels, or other metal piece, under extreme pressure. it makes the metal more dense, which increases strength, which means less metal can be used, which makes the piece light.

on the other hand, casting is pouring (actually it is sucked in under vacuum) a liquid metal, mainly aluminum, into a form and it is allowed to cool, and out pops a part.

there are variations on the processes, cold forging, drop forging, semi-solid forging, die casting, pressure casting. but you get the idea. hope this helps.
