if the links don't work, add .orig.jpg to them and then try. or do it anyway and you'll get the high res pics

here's a pic of Si_Nutt's car on the left and 02TafWhtSi's on the right..they both have the same rim size and tire size..but for some reason the one on the right was slightly lower looking

I clicked on the link and it shows for me immediately. now when you click on the link at first, does it say not available? if so, like I said add .orig.jpg to the end of the url then click go.

if that's not working, right click on the url and copy shortcut...paste to a new window and add the .orig.jpg...if that doesn't work, there's somethning wrong with your browser.

do you not even see that one pic of the two cars together?

Yeah I see the two cars. I have tried the copy and paste and add the .org.jpg but it still doesn't show up. Maybe because I don't have an account with Imagestation or it is my crappy computer here at work. I will try it when I get home.

that shouldn't matter, I would think.

when you say copy, you aren't highlighting the urls are you? and then copying them? because the whole url isn't shown, you have to right click copy short cut to get the whole url...versus copying it.

Hey thanks for posting up the picks!!

That suspension sure doesn't lower the car that much.

That's gonna happen very soon:D I am planning to get 15'' bronze heliums w 205/55/15 tires. heavy 17's w/ bigger tires are killing it. meanwhile I can try to post pics with stock wheels (tomorrow).

I and others think you are wrong, but that's just an opinion...like yours. 15's are tight as hell and serve a better purpose....what kind of nippons? I bet they aren't any lighter than 17lbs if you're lucky.

actually they are 14 lbs a piece i weighed them myself for your info :D They are the black 5 spoke ones, i guess you can call them spoon replicas.

15 inch wheels are great for the track dont get me wrong, but for rolling around on the streets with 15's, i dunno man makes the car look funny, a bigger wheel does our cars does alot of justice.

15" konig helium ... Thats the setup I have ... nice affordable 10.x lb rim. You will notice a big difference. I was looking at the rota slipstreams ... they look great too.

Well I ordered the Mugen kit yesterday from King Motorsport. All I have to say is excellent service. But I am still unsure if the springs will lower the car enough for my taste. Do you think Neuspeed Race springs will work with the Mugen dampers?

SONIC what did kings charge you for shipping costs on top of the grand for the suspension????

It was $54.00 to California.

Sonic - I would not use the Nuespeed race springs on the Mugen dampers. Couple of reasons:
1)Mugen and Showa spent a lot of time tuning the valving on the struts specifically for the springs included in the kit.

2)A lot of folks don't realize that based on the design on the DC5/EP3 suspension lowering the car excessively causes all sorts of issues. Not just static alignment settings, but more importantly dynamic changes in the suspension geometry when you are driving hard. Some other companies that do offer agressive lowering compensate by increasing the spring rate in an effort to control the dynamic changes under load. The reult is a suspension that makes the car no fun to drive on most streets.

We are developing a nice, detailed, technical section for our webiste that explains the do's and don'ts for improving the DC5/EP3 suspension.

IMHO the best way to acheive a more tucked look with the Mugen suspension is to go +1 or +2 on the wheel/tire combo.

Good luck and enjoy the SS kit.

Clayton

Cool thanks for the info Clayton!! I am going with the +1 wheel and tire combo so it should be fine. Eventually I will add sways and front and rear upper and lower tie bars so it will be ready to go.

Thanks again for the great customer service!!!

Stock is 15"

+1 would be +1" which is 16"
+2 is 17"

In other words:

15" + 1" = 16"
15" + 2" = 17"

Hello,

I agree with everything you said about the EP suspension, and I believe that the Mugen or the HFP struts/springs is the best choice for a lower stance and better handling while maintaining a factory type ride.

However, in my opinion, going to a +1 or +2 actually emphasizes the gap, because you have less sidewall on your tires. By the time you get to a 17" tire, the sidewall is down to 3.38", down from 4.6" of sidewall on the factory tire. So even though the gap remains the same, it *seems* bigger.

I'm going to run 205/55/16s, which is the factory size for the '04s. The sidewall on those are around 4.4", and the overall height is up by .65" closing the gap by around .32". With the Mugen, this setup should look somewhat tucked.....

But see since mine is an 04 then a +1 size will be a 17" since it came stock with 16's. I will post pics as soon as the wheels and suspension are on.

since mine is an 04 then a +1 size will be a 17" since it came stock with 16's.

What size 17s are you planning on? The Tire Rack shows a 215/45/17 as the proper size for an 02/03, but lists a 205/50/17 for an 04.

Stock 02/02 = 195/60/15 = 24.21"
+1 would be 205/50/16 = 24.07"
+2 would be 215/45/17 = 24.61"
Stock 04 = 205/55/16 = 24.88"
+1 would be 205/50/17 = 25.07"

All will work fine, and most people would choose the shorter sidewall/wider contact patch and go with 215/45/17. I was really only addressing the fact that the wheelwells don't look as filled as they should be, and that there's a lot of gap. I think the original 15"s' overall diameter is too small for the car, and that's why you *have to* lower it......and they seem to have addressed this issue with the 04s.....

I am going with a 215/45-17 just to be sure that I have no rubbing issues.

I'm planning on getting this suspension kit for my next mod, and had a few questions. What comes included? Is it the shocks/struts, and springs? And how long will the Mugen shocks last with the complete setup? I don't know much about this, and was wondering if once the Mugen shocks get shot over time, would you have to replace them again with the same Mugen shocks to get the same performance?
